Eagle Scout Letter of Intent
Troop 174
March 18, 2016
Scouting has been always been a big part of my life. When my older brother started scouts, I
couldn’t wait for it to be my turn. (I only had to wait 1 year) When I became a Tiger Scout, my
father was asked to be the Cub Master; my mother was my Tiger Den Leader. Some of the boys
that were in my den are still my closest friends. I grew with them and stuck with them
throughout my whole scouting experience.
Scouting has taught me many things; the ability to tie the correct knot for the correct situation,
the knowledge of what to do in an emergency situation, how to cook my own meals, and how to
manage money, to name a few. The most important thing scouting has taught me to this day is
how important those around me are, and how we can work together to accomplish a seemingly
impossible task. I’ve learned to always be prepared for anything and to do a good turn daily in
order to do my part in society.
I will continue to use the skills I learned in scouting in the future. Scouting taught me how to be
a better person. It taught me to work hard for something I want, and to never give up. But most
of all, scouting has taught me to be prepared for whatever life offers.
Ever since I was a kid, I have always dreamed of what I would be doing when I grew older.
Now, as a senior in high school, all the things I dreamed of as a kid are so close to becoming a
reality. Next year I will be attending Wilkes University for a major in Musical Theater. I have
always loved theater and it wasn’t until last year that I decided I wanted to make it my career. I
chose Wilkes for their outstanding Musical Theater program.
As I journey into college and beyond, I will use the knowledge that I learned in scouting and will
continue to follow the morals and standards of a scout in my everyday life as I grow older into
the man I was taught to be. Eventually, I would like to make my way into the acting world and
become a performer. I hope to travel the world one day and see new cultures and experience new
things. I would also like to stick with the hobbies I currently have like participating in
community theater, soccer and photography. The work ethic that scouting and my family has
helped me develop will enable me to do the things I love to do.
