Integrative Community Resources (ICR), Berkeley, CA


We provide supported living services to consumers of GGRC and RCEB, clients of the
Department of Labor, and private paying clients (elder care). Services are provided in the
following departments: Housing, Personal Assistance (May include assistance with bathing,
dressing, toileting, eating, drinking, taking medication, etc.), Attendant Management, Basic Living
Tasks, Mobility Training, Using the Community/Creating and Maintaining Relationships.
Care Attendant January 2010--Current
• Through ICR, I am working 48-60 hours a week aiding a woman with severe cerebral
palsy in her late 40s to live as independently as possible.

• I work both overnight and daytime shifts, providing assistance at anytime of day or night
when required, including aiding in transportation with EMT crew to Emergency Room
when needed.
• Because of my client’s health needs and severe disability, I help her:
o Transfer to and from her wheelchair
o Prepare and serve/feed her meals
o Assist her with shopping
o Light clerical duties such as typing dictated emails
o Laundry, cleaning, other household duties
o Bathing, dressing, toileting, hygiene.
o Organize and serve medication
o Assist with transportation to/from events.

In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS), Berkeley, CA


In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) is a statewide publicly funded program providing personal
assistance services to low-income people with chronic and disabling conditions who need such
assistance to remain safely in their homes and engaged in their communities. In San Francisco,
most consumers served by IHSS are over 65 years of age. The remainders are younger adults and a
small number of children. In-Home Supportive Services include chore and house cleaning services
as well as personal care, such as assistance with eating, bathing, dressing, and using the toilet.
IHSS allows consumers to live safely at home, where they want to be, rather than in institutions.

Chore Provider January 2010 – Current


• Household chores, such as house cleaning, changing bed linen, laundry, meal preparation
and cleanup, food shopping and other errands.
• Personal care services, such as help with bathing, grooming, dressing,eating, getting in
and out of bed, moving around one’s home, bowel/bladder care, breathing, medications,
prosthetic care, and escorting to medical appointments and alternative resources.
