The Directorate has received queries with regard to assessment of candidates for 2M

(FG) exams who do not have the required percentage in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics

subjects li.e. 55% or 60Yo as applicablel in their 12fr standard U0+21 examinations conducted

by applicable board, due to which they have appeared in the examination or part of the

examination to improve their percentage [i.e. improvement examinations].

2. In this context, it is clarified that the eligibility requirements for candidates to join pre

sea courses is 55% or 60%o [as applicable] in 12ft standard [0+2] examination, [as stipulated

in section IIll of TEAP Part A]. The said section is however silent on provisions to deal with

the candidates who have appeared in improvement examinations to improve their percentage

in the respective subjects.

3. The matter has been carefully examined and it is clarified as follows :-

3.1 All candidates who appear in improvement examination are required to pass in all the

subjects of the improvement examination in which they appear.


3'2 In case a candidate fails in any subject of the improvement
examination, then the
results of improvement examination is not to
be considered for the purpose of calculating the

required percentage' In such case, the result


of the earlier attempt of the candidate in the
board examination will only be considered.

3'3 In case the candidate passes in all the subjects of the


improvement examinations, the
highest marks scored in each subject of both the examinations can be considered for
calculating the percentage.

4' This is issued with the approval of Chief Examiner of


Master and Mates.
