Festive Decor : Treat Pot
by Michelle Jackson-Mogford

Step by Step:
1. One of the things I love most about my freestyle mouse is the fact that
I am not restricted in the length of my cutting and I can still get a perfect
decorative edge that I don’t need to line up, as with the main structure of
this treat pot. Cut a strip from an A1 piece of aqua cardstock (thats a UK
size and is about 24’’ x 33’’) using decorative blade # 2810 in the freestyle
mouse and cutting in a wavey line making the maximum height about 7’’.
From the other half of the cardstock that now also has a wavey edge cut to
a maximum of 4 1/2’’ in height using a long ruler (this could be any long
straight edge) to run the freestyle mouse up against and straight blade
#2801. As the freestyle mouse has a square base that houses the channel

that sits on the ruler included in the free-

style mouse kit, it sits up against a straight
edge perfectly for those times when you
need a longer cut.

2. Then cut some strips of white cardstock

in the same way as step 1, reducing the
maximum height on each strip slightly and
cutting the slopes right down to a point at
either end of the strips to make the snow.
This time use decorative click blades #’s
2808 and 2809.

3. Using some scissors cut two circles

from the aqua cardstock, 10 1/4’’ in diam-
eter (handily the size of one of my dinner
plates!)

4. Using Click blade #2811, the scoring

blade, and the long straight edge again,
score along the bottom of the widest aqua
strip 1/2’’ from the bottom. With a craft
knife make some triangular cuts along the
scored strip so the whole piece can be
formed into a circle easily. Apply some of
the Helmar 450 glue around the outside
edge of one of the aqua circles and adhere
the scored strip to it to form the base of the
treat pot, gluing the seam that overlaps.
Once all that is in place and secure, adhere
the other circle on the inside to cover up
your workings and make it all neat.

5. Alternately adhere the widest white strip around the pot, followed by the other aqua strip and
finally the remaining white strip. For some extra festive bling add some diamond stickles along the
decorative edges of the strips to look like snow.

6. While the stickles is drying make some Christmas trees by trimming some irregular triangles from
some green bazzil and then using off cuts of some Cosmo Cricket Christmas paper to decorate (my
off cuts came from making my Christmas wreath coming up) With click blade #2801 in the freestyle
mouse trim wavey lines along the scraps of paper, ink the edges using clear snaps pumpkin patch
inks and layer up on the triangles. Once the triangles are covered, trim off the excess and admire your
cute, funky trees!

7. With Helmars scrap dots, glue the trees around the pot creating a snowy scene and then punch
out some snowflakes adding them for that extra seasonal feel. This treat pot is perfect to have on
your Christmas table filled with sweet goodies, little parcels for visitors, pot pourri or even just
some sparkly baubles and tinsel!
