Answer briefly the following:

What particular foundation of curriculum has influenced what you have learned in school during your
college years? Explain your answer.

Since in my early childhood until I’ve reached college, the most common strategy used by teachers is
route memorization of facts and events. In this sense, my education is hugely impacted by behaviorist
theory of mastery through repetition. There is an emphasis on this method because test results are
dependent on how good you have mastered or stored into your mind the necessary information needed
to pass the subject. I believe that it is still widely used among schools and colleges. This type of approach
is important to some extent but should not be the sole method of teaching. Rather, it should be used in
conjunction with other curriculum foundation for learning to take place.

How will the theory of Abraham Maslow influence your teaching practice in the future?

Abraham Maslow’s groundbreaking theory is a classification of human needs based on

necessity. It answers the question what is most important for a human being to survive and what are the
things needed for humans to develop their full potential. It will influence my future practice as a teacher
by being more sensitive to the needs of my students. Abraham Maslow believes that if our basic needs
at the bottom are not satisfied, we would not be able to proceed to the higher level of needs. Thus it is
important that as teachers, we should first help our students achieve their basic needs to ensure that
learning is optimized.
