1.0 OBJECTIVES
The objective of this course is to comprehend different modes of heat transfer and apply
the knowledge on variety of applications related to engineering field.
CLO1 Solve problems on steady and unsteady state on one dimension and multiple
dimension heat transfer.
CLO2 Determine the heat transfer coefficient for natural or forced convection in
dimensionless parameter in thermal system.
CLO3 Determine energy exchanges between black and grey surfaces at different
temperatures.

Student Learning Time (SLT): The time required by a student to understand the syllabus or curriculum content and to fulfill the registration requirements to complete a study programme. It fulfills the
framework of student centered teaching and learning.
SLT can be translated into four major operational components:
(i) Official Contact Time; (ii) Guided Learning Hours; (iii) Self Study Time; (iv) Assessment Time
Official Contact Hours is the time required for a student to understand the syllabus or curriculum content and to fulfill the registration requirements to complete a study programme given by
Instructors/ Lecturers with a compulsory attendance in lecture/ lab/ tutorial mode. Engineering Program: Lecture; Non Engineering Program: Lecture+ Tutorial/Lab
Guided Learning Hours is the time required for a student to understand the syllabus or curriculum content and to fulfill the registration requirements to complete a study programme with the
assistance of Instructors such as tutorials/ lab works/ field study etc.
Self-Study Time is the time required for a student to understand the syllabus or curriculum content independently.
Assessment Time is the time required by a student (outside the official contact hours) to be assessed in any form of prescribed mode (seat/ carried out).
Frequency can be defined as time taken/ lecture attended/ report produced etc.
