Vaccination is also recommended for travelers visiting Iguazu Falls.

Malaria risk due to P. vivax (88.8%), P. falciparum (10.6%), and mixed infections (0.5%) exists in most forested
areas below 900 meters within the nine states of the Amazon region (Acre, Amapa, Amazonas, Maranhao,
Mato Grosso (northern part), Para (except Belem City), Rondonia, Roraima and Tocantins (western part)).
Transmission intensity varies from one municipality to another and is higher in junglemining areas, in
agricultural settlements, in indigenous areas, and in some peripheral urban areas of Cruzeiro do Sul, Manaus
and Porto Velho. Malaria also occurs on the periphery of large cities such as Boa Vista, Macapa, Maraba, Rio
Branco, and Santarem. In the states outside the administrative region of Amazonas, the risk of malaria
transmission is negligible or non-existent, but there is a residual risk of P. vivax transmission in Atlantic forest
areas of the states of Sao Paulo, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro and Espirito Santo. Detailed information on the
epidemiological situation of malaria in Brazil is available at www.saude.gov.br
Recommended prevention in risk areas: B in P. vivax risk areas; C in P. falciparum risk areas.

The WHO recommended type of prevention is referred to as:

– Type A (very limited risk of malaria transmission) - Mosquito bite prevention only.
– Type B (risk of non-falciparum malaria) - Mosquito-bite prevention plus chloroquine or doxycycline or
atovaquoneproguanil or mefloquine chemoprophylaxis.
– Type C (risk of P. falciparum malaria) - Mosquito-bite prevention plus atovaquone-proguanil or doxycycline
or mefloquine chemoprophylaxis.
Chemoprophylaxis should be started preferably one week before departure and no later than the first day of
exposure; it must be taken with unfailing regularity and continued for 4 weeks after the last exposure. No
prophylactic regimen is 100% protective against infection, but even if it fails to prevent the disease it may,
nevertheless, render the infection milder and less life threatening.

Transportation Via aircraft hold or cabin
1. b. No
The United Kingdom is not a country with risk of yellow fever transmission. Although Nigeria is a country

United Kingdom prior to arrival in Nigeria. For his own personal protection, it is only recommended to be
vaccinated against yellow fever.
2. a. Yes

Study Best Practices

Dear IATA student,
You are granted an account with a total of 45 login hours to complete the
study of Modules 11 (Electronic Booking Tools–Amadeus, Galileo or Sabre).
These guidelines will help you manage your module study and login time.

Attachment D: Study Best Practices and GDS Format Guide Amadeus/Travelport Galileo/Sabre 1249
International Travel and Tourism Training Program

IMPORTANT: IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO REQUEST EXTRA STUDY HOURS FOR THIS TRAINING

1. Remember to LOGIN and LOGOUT

Time is deducted from the time you login and are placed in a training lesson until you logout using the
“Logout” button or by clicking the “X” in the upper-right corner of the training window. Wait at least a minute
for the program to open after clicking the link in the LMS.

2. Do not login for less than 15 minutes of study

Before you login, make sure you have at least 15 minutes of uninterrupted time to study - 30 minutes or
more is best. As soon as you are placed in the course, begin your study and do not become distracted. If
you need to take a break from the course study, log out of the program; do not leave the program logged in
as this will deduct time from your account.

3. Logout at the beginning or end of a lesson

When you are ready to stop studying, be sure to logout at the beginning of a module (lesson), the end of a
module (lesson) or at the beginning of a section/part within the lesson. If you logout in the middle of a
section you will need to repeat frames when you log back in. If you log out in the middle of a section, the
program will ask you to confirm your logout. (see Figure D.1)

Global Distribution Systems Format Guide

Module 11 in the Foundation in Travel and Tourism Course (Electronic Booking Tools) introduces common
technology used to sell travel products and services.
It teaches GDS functionality through simulated online programming. Module 11 also includes quizzes and
review tests which are good practice in preparation for your course final examination.
You are granted a total of 45 login hours to complete the study of Module 11.
The lessons in Module 11 will teach GDS entry commands. This format guide compiles these entry commands
into a useful reference for your course study that continues to be helpful to you on-the-job after graduating.
There is room for you to write notes in this attachment. Maximize the use of this format guide to master the GDS
entries for your course final examination.
Note: Some lessons do not introduce new GDS entries as they are designed to provide extra practice in using
the entries taught in previous lessons. As a result, this format guide does not display those lessons.

Fundamentals in Air Fares and
Ticketing—Activity Workbook
International Travel and Tourism Training Program

Module 12: Fundamentals in Air Fares and

Ticketing—Activity Workbook

Unit Overview
As a learning aid ... this Activity Workbook is best used as a study aid while
you are working through the Fundamentals in Air Fares and Ticketing module.
Once you have completed a Unit, the various activities will offer a good chance
for you to test the depth of your knowledge and understanding of the topics.
There are also puzzles included which can focus your attention on those key
terms and components which you will need to learn and remember. By
attempting the whole topic without referring to the answers at the back of the
book, you can identify where your knowledge is weak; you can then strengthen
your knowledge by restudying the Unit concerned.
Unless otherwise specified in the instructions of the Activity, access the Fare
Lookup Tool to obtain required fare or rule data. Also, unless otherwise noted,
the country of ticket sale for activities in this workbook is the country of
commencement of travel (COC).
TPMs required to construct fares are provided in this workbook and notated
beside each journey.
As a revision aid the best way to find out if you really know and understand
something is to test yourself. That is what you can do with this Activity
Workbook in Attachment E.
Read the instruction for each Activity carefully and check out some of the items
that have been completed as an example of how to solve the exercise. Then
work through the activities and answer every question you can. You will then
be able to test yourself on each topic and learn exactly where your knowledge
is strong or, more importantly, where you need more practice. Revise your
weakest topics first to bring them up to strength and then top up on your
stronger areas.
If you use a pencil, the activities can be attempted more than once; or have a
scrap paper ready, so that you can try out solutions or jot down possibilites for
certain checks required.
Don't look at the answers at the back of the Workbook until you have
completed the activities.
