THEA 101 Assessment 2020

Just Read the Plays Already: (4 x 5%) Online Quiz comprising short answer questions Due Thursday 20%
on course plays/readings/performances, due Thursday 5pm, weeks 3, 5, 8, 11. 5pm, Weeks 3,
5, 8, 11.

The Micro-Ensemble Project: A 3 - 5 minute presentation of a scene from one of the Weekly from 25%
assigned texts as scheduled by the workshop tutor, to be performed as part of a group in Week 3 as
workshops; students choose a performance role and a production role. 500 word written assigned by the
reflection due the week after the presentation. (10% performance (group)/ 5% tutor
contribution (individual)) 10% report

Adventures in Play-/Writing: = 2 short exercises (500 words/15% each) in response Thesis Draft 1 35%
to playtexts taught on the course (Total: 1000 words) plus 2.5% for submission of drafts Due workshops

Workshops and weekly expectations:
1. Before the lecture: read the play and other assigned material on that topic. The play will be in the
Student reader (apart from Dawn Raids, Cellfish and Harry Potter) with some additional material
posted on the digital readings section of Blackboard.
2. Before your workshop on that topic review the play and your lecture notes
3. Attend workshop, contribute fully, get to know your workshop-mates, talk over the texts and
assessments as a group.

Extensions (applies to major assessments only, not to quizzes)


Every student may have one free 3-day extension, no explanation needed. However, you MUST
include the following statement at the top of your paper: THIS IS MY ONE FREE EXTENSION.

In exceptional and unforeseen circumstances additional extensions may be granted. To apply for an
extension, email your Course Coordinator before the assignment is due. If granted, your Course
Coordinator will inform you of the new due date. Tutors cannot grant extensions.
