Interview Attendance
If granted an interview, students are required to attend. If students are sick or unable to attend their
interview due to extenuating circumstances, students must e-mail cooped@uwindsor.ca prior to the
interview with an explanation as to why they cannot attend. A doctor’s note or other documentation may
be required.
Location of Interview
Interviews can be conducted in-person, by phone or on-line through Skype. In-person interviews are
either on-campus or at the company location. If the interview location is longer than a one-hour drive
from campus, then the student is not required to attend. Students should send an e-mail to
cooped@uwindsor.ca if they are asked to attend an interview out of town.
MAIN ROUND RANKINGS
Students that attended a co-op interview during Main Round, must submit a ranking on-line through
mySuccess under the Rank and Match tab from 7:30AM – 1:00PM on Tuesday, February 25, 2020

• When requesting to return to a previous employer prior to the start of the job
competition (for undergrad students who have completed a prior work term); or
• When submitting an employer ranking during the Main Round; or
• When responding to a job offer from an Employer Relations Co-op Coordinator.
Once a placement has been confirmed, students must honour that commitment.
Students that want to cancel a placement without just cause will be required to
withdraw from the co-op program and a failing grade will be assigned for the work
term. Co-op fees for the work term are non-refundable.
If an employer contacts a student directly with an employment offer, the student should
notify their Employer Relations Co-op Coordinator before accepting the offer.
HOW TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE JOB COMPETITION
• Apply to as many positions as possible
• Be flexible regarding types of positions. The positions may not fit your
“dream job”, but the experience may help you meet that goal in the future
• Customize your applications for every job you apply to (even for multiple jobs
in the same company)
• Get involved in your job search and participate in a Guided Job Search
• Don’t do it alone. Use your resources. Reach out to the Program Coop
Coordinators for help with your cover letter, resume and interviews
HOW TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE JOB COMPETITION
• Get organized. Managing a full-time course schedule and participating in a job
competition takes organization. Set a time in your schedule to submit
applications
• Don’t give up. Finding your first placement takes work and time. It sometimes
even takes more than one job competition
• Get your Driver’s License. Many employers will request students to have a
valid Driver’s License. Some employers will provide a vehicle
• Learn new skills in between classes. Any new experiences and skills that you
can add to your resume will make you more marketable
TRANSFORM MODULE 2 (for students in their first job competition)
