Dance Review

When I first came to Wilkes as a freshman, I had had little

to no experience in dance. I played sports for a few years

before hand so I was quick on my feet and had decent balance but

I was not at all coordinated. I took my first dance class my

spring semester of freshman year and immediately began to feel

foolish in class in front of all the other very talented

dancers. I kept working throughout the semester in both modern

and ballet. At the end of the semester I realized the hard work

and dedication that goes into dancing and I realized that I

could get better if I kept working.

I think this years dance concert was one of my biggest

challenges in dance in my years at Wilkes comparable only to A

Chorus Line. I was in a very large majority of the dances and

had a lot of very quick costume changes. Each piece that I was

in was a different style and i had to ue different dancing

techniques for each one. Due to the fact that I was in a

majority of the show, I did not have as much of an opportunity

to watch the other performers. The pieces I were able to see was

the jazz 2, 3, 4 piece and the tap pieces both of which were
fantastic. ALthough I may be biased, I thought the trio of Josh,

Justin, and Gabby in the Jazz 2, 3, 4 piece was the most

entertaining thing to watch out of the whole piece. Each of them

did a fantastic job displaying the choreography and even putting

character into their performances. I thoroughly enjoy dance now

and I am excited to keep learning. I believe that I have

improved a good amount since freshman year and I hope to keep

improving into my senior year.
