ACTIVITY 4
Learner-Centered Psychological Principles

Direction: Differentiate and describe your motivational strategy between/among:

1. Students of different ages

Student eagerness to learn will varies appropriateness of the approach in their current
age’s .Young learners for example, they are easily distracted and a short term span of
attention in my discussion. Here I can apply the principles of variation and an application of
a learner centered approach. The usage a lot of medium for the discussion is effective to
uphold engagement from video tutorials, online games, and interactive classroom activities
and work book. It is also essential to put creativity in every material, like decorating some
images or their favorite anime character in a way that I can get more of their attention. The
more I can keep my classroom engaged, the less likely they are to find something they
shouldn’t be occupying themselves with. In addition, this level of ages are more likely fond
of playing, here I can make advantages of this by using this in order for them to learn. In
other hand, we also have this teen age learners our motivation for them will be fit to their
needs. When I look out the concept of Erick Erikson, here we can characterize this age as a
preparation for more mature roles and responsibility. Here , they start to struggle for the
role confusion , autonomy and competence this three stated for me will be the best sources
for motivation in which there is a relatedness and later benefit in their future living. Here I
will help them know about themselves and provide a room for improvement. Always
remind them every day to do their best and teach them how to manage changes .Providing
a closure relationship so that I can help them by giving some best suggestion for their
decisions.
2. Boys and girls
Boys and girls have different behavior when it comes to their learning. It will depend
upon in their capabilities and sensitivity. In girls accordingly has more on serotonin and
oxytocin, they can sit for longer periods of time. While boys were more on their cerebral
cortex defined for spatial relationships. As a result, they learn easily through movement and
visual experience. In motivating girls we should encourage them to open up their feelings
towards their school work and school problems and also we can motivate them by
improving their strength and eliminating gender stereotype. Giving emphasis on the things
they are good at and improving those are not. Involving them in some leadership roles, such
as forming working groups and teams in such way it will improve their ability in this certain
area. It will lead also to self confidence in their side about their strength in doing things.
Now, when we tackle about boys learning, we can motivate them by using hand –on
activities according to their preference they learn more in action based environment. Here
we can also apply the art of positive reinforcement in times of difficulties in task I’ve given. I
will emphasize also to them the bigger picture why they need to learn and do their best. It is
also effective if I will show the outcomes each certain activity that is related to them in a
way that they can find connection.
3. The economically disadvantages and the affluent
Poverty is one of the main reasons why students drop out in school and as a teacher it is
our duty to motivate them to hold on in their education. We must do our best to make sure
each child knows how special they are and that no matter what problems they may face,
there is someone who loves and believes in them. We can empower them through intrinsic
motivation, having a high expectation on them so that they will work hard for the best and
to ensure their success in the long run. I will make them realized the importance of
education for us to help the poor situations. I will tell to them my story of success, how
poverty motivates me to study hard, get some scholarship and individuals to help when
they can see your potentials. For those, students who already have an abundant life they
also need motivation. I will emphasize to them the importance of using money wisely as
well as the importance of education to maintain their wealth until the next generations. I
will plan a film viewing which features the importance of education in individual’s survival.
4. Students belonging to indigenous peoples’ (IP) groups and those not belonging.

Indigenous student’s lives in the remote areas which circulated their life mostly to
daily works .They are hopeless and tend to be contented in their current state of living just
to preserve the purity of culture and they are afraid for the danger in the bigger world .
While children who dwell in the urban community most of them are more productive and
modernized due for a lot of information sources can be derive through internet and
television. Even if they are advance, the individual’s development will differ from one
person and another. Here, the teachers have a vital role in motivating the students from
different social context. When motivating those indigenous one we have to consider first
the awareness about the culture they have for us to achieve the right approach for them. To
ensure that they are not subjective bullying I will set rules in the classroom for them. In
addition, giving some group activities and competition will help them to overcome their
social skills. I will develop their confidence through making them stand and share his/her
opinion during our class discussion. This makes them feel the sense of belongings in the
group. To ensure that they really important to us I also wanted to administer a club in the
school more about those Indigenous students fostering for the same goals to succeed while
preserving ones culture through making used of bulletin for their cultural heritage .For
other student who are not belong to the indigenous people also receive a motivation, more
on making the subject matter applicable for them. I will set some activities for both groups
which is visiting a museum, in which they can discover some prominent individuals who
succeed in their lifetime career. That way I can enlighten them the importance of education
at all aspects especially in the future.
