Mum's Life in the
Philippines
My Mum and Dad were classmates
when they were kids. Mum was a
cleaner and lived in Batangas in the
Philippines. When she finished at work,
she and her brothers and sisters would
help Lolo and Lola pick some rambutan,
lansones and grapes

Dad's Life in
the
Philippines
Dad lived in Pampanga and worked at the Department of
Education as a teacher. He taught students. When Dad finished
his work, he would feed the pigs, chickens and birds.

Mum and Dad First

Met
My Mum and Dad first met in a festival. My Dad knew that Mum
was the one when he first saw her. Many years later they fell in
love and had three children, Gerard, Isaac and me.
My Lolo (Mom’s
side)
My Grandfather was born in the Philippines. Mum told me that he
was a war veteran during World War II. He fought against the
Japanese invaders. He also brought food to other war veterans
who were in the mountain. He would deliver special messages from
one camp to another camp. My Lolo was a brave soldier. He is now
living with my grandma in the USA.

My Lola
and Lolo
(Dad’s
Side)
My Lolo was born in the
Philippines on April 20.He is
5th of nine siblings. He
worked as a store hand to
earn money to go to the University. My Lola is a beautician by
profession. They are now living in the USA

Deciding to Migrate
5 years later Dad decided to go and live in Australia every body
was happy to go and live in Australia but I didn’t want to go and
live in Australia. I didn’t want to leave my friends and all the
puppies/dogs. I was very sad.

Migrating to
Australia
A few days later Dad told me that Australia was a great country.
The education system was very good and you can learn more
things and live better. The environment is more beautiful than
the Philippines. When my dad said this, I felt a little bit better
about moving to Australia.

At the
Airport
We traveled for ten hours and
stopped at Sydney for five
minutes. We then took off in
an plan to Melbourne. When we
arrived in Melbourne, my Dad’s
brother picked us up and drove
us to his house. Mum was happy
to be in Australia. She was so
happy, she did a weird dance.

Buying a House
A month later we bought a little brother was helping us to get our
own nice house. Our house is different from our house in the
Philippines. In the Philippines we
had a big house but in Australia it
is a lot smaller house.

My house.

Life Now
My parents both go to work. My mum works as a cleaner and my
dad works as a student Admin. My older brother, Gerard, goes to
Copperfield College and my younger brother, Isaac and I go to
Kings Park Primary School. My teacher, Miss Gruss , is helping
me understand Australian school life so I can have a better
opportunity in life . I am happy in Australia but I still wish to be
in the Philippines. When I have finished school, I hope to live my
dreams and become a doctor or teacher. Perhaps I will go back
and visit the Philippines again.

Thank you reading for my book!
