March Minnesota Food Share Campaign

Our local food shelf is in need of our continued support to keep
their shelves full of food and ready to help families in need. Your
food donations will always be welcomed, but here is another way
to help your donation go even further.
Let me give you an example: If you were to give a $300.00
Minnesota Food Share donation, you could supply a family of four with a 3-day
emergency supply of food once a month for a year. That is just
$25.00 a month. Any amount of course is welcome and we as a
family of faith can make a huge difference in people lives. It is
just another reminder of God’s Work, Our Hands.
During the March Campaign all donations are matched by
Minnesota Food Share, which means every dollar goes even
further. Make a donation today or anytime during the month of
March. You can place it in with the offering marked “Minnesota
Food Share” and we will send in a check at the end of the month.
Thanks again for the many ways you support the mission and
outreach of Our Redeemer’s.

Pastor Zane Anderson Midweek Lenten Worship, Wednesdays at 6:15p.m.

Eyes on Jesus and Holden Evening Prayer will be used for midweek
Lenten services at 6:15 p.m. on March 4, 11, 18, 25, April 1. When the
characters in the Passion narrative look at Jesus, what do they see? In
most cases, people misunderstood who He is and what He was doing.
In some cases, by faith, people recognized Him aright. Our Lenten
series this year, based on the Gospel according to St. Mark, will
examine how the various people around Jesus viewed Him—and how
we should view Him. We will “fix our eyes” on what Jesus has done to
save us from our sins. Ash Wednesday, February 26 is where we
begin:
March 4 “Betraying Eyes”
March 11 “Sleepy Eyes”
March 18 “Denying Eyes”
March 25 “Murderous Eyes”
April 1 “Worldly Eyes”
April 9 Maundy Thursday “More Than Meets the Eye”
April 10 Good Friday “Victorious Eyes”
April 12 Easter “New Eyes”
This contemporary service is easy to learn, with flowing melodies
accompanied by piano and often flute. It creates a peaceful way in
which to contemplate God’s Word and bring the day to a close. We
believe it will bring you refreshment and renewal in faith.

Lay Reader/Communion Servers Me, a Scripture Reader on Sunday or a Communion Assistant?

Can I do that? Yes, you can.
If you have ever thought about being a lay reader or Communion
assistant, now is the time to sign up. Pastor Zane will be leading a
one-day class on how to be a lay reader or Communion assistant. We
will gather following worship on March 8th. Grab a cup of coffee and
join him.

March 18 Meal at 5:30 Lenten Worship at 6:15
March 25 Meal at 5:30 Lenten Worship at 6:15

Dear parents of confirmation students:

We invite you to join your child for mid-week Lenten services. Lent begins
with Ash Wednesday- February 26, 2020. Please note the change of schedule
during Lent. We will be done with our confirmation time at the conclusion of
worship which will be 7 most weeks. We will return to our regular schedule
following Easter. During the next six weeks, students will attend worship. We as
a Worship and Education team would invite you to join them during Lent. You
may attend the meal which begins at 5:30 p.m., and then go with your child to
worship at 6:15 p.m. Confirmation students are required to attend mid-week
Lenten worship and to take worship notes. On Wednesdays from March 4 –
April 1, we’ll be using Holden Evening Prayer, a beautiful contemporary setting
done with piano and flute or other instrument. This has been used in the past,
and we are bringing it out once again. Please consider joining us for a mid-week
break from the business of life and take a moment to breathe. A brief
meditation will be done by Pastor Zane reflecting on the theme “Eyes on
Jesus.” Bring a friend! We think you’ll find these services refreshing. The only
week we will not be serving a meal is Ash Wednesday- February 26, 2020.

God’s peace to you,

Pastor Zane Anderson, the Education Team and the Worship Team

New Member Orientation and Welcome

New Member Classes We will be welcoming new members into our congregation on March 29 th at the
9:00 a.m. worship service. If you or someone you know is interested in joining
our faith community. Please contact us (320-843-3151). The Outreach
Committee and Pastor Zane would also like to try and set up a sponsor family,
who can help answer questions that arise and help you in making connections
in our faith community. We will also have two classes following worship on
March 15th, and 22nd. It will be an introduction to Lutheran perspectives on
faith and life. Most find this helpful when coming to Redeemer’s from other
Christian churches and others find it a good refresher. Please put these dates
on your calendar. We are looking forward to this opportunity to get to know
each of you better.

Windows on Easter Windows on Easter Bible Study

The season of Lent is a good time to join others in the community for a Bible
study sponsored by Adult Ed.

By looking through The Windows on Easter we will see and feel what
Malchus, Judas Iscariot, Simon of Cyrene, the Centurion, Joseph of
Arimathea, Mary Magdalene and other women, and the disciples on the
road to Emmaus saw and felt and learn from their responses. I invite you to
enter into the events that altered the world forever through scripture study.

Join others from the community at the Benson Public Library on Thursdays
during Lent. The Bible study is a new lesson each week, come when you are
able. All welcome.

Our Redeemer’s Women Our Redeemer’s Women, March 2020

Purpose Statement
March ushers in Spring, and most importantly, the Easter journey. An
awakening and a renewing of everything. Are you ready? Are you prepared?
As a community of women Join us for a “Spring Gathering” of chicken hotdish at a noon luncheon on
created in the image of God, Wednesday, March 4th from 11:30 to 1 in our Fellowship Hall. Take your noon
called to discipleship in Jesus break with us. It’s a celebration of the coming Spring. Let’s see some summer
Christ, and empowered by the clothes and open toes. Practice for what is just around the corner.
Holy Spirit. We commit At our recent ORW board meeting, we decided that we would purchase 200
ourselves to grow in faith, affirm chairs rather than the 150 we had originally planned. It seems 175 is a pretty
our gifts, support one another in common number for funeral serving. Therefore, we will need more money than
our calling, engage in ministry we had stated before. Some donations and memorials have already been
and action, and promote healing received. Thank You!! But we will need more before we can order them. It will be
and wholeness in our church, so nice to have new chairs. The next thing on our agenda is the annual clothing
the society and the world. drive. If you are clearing out closets now and wish to bring your things at this time
you may place them to the south of the stage downstairs. Formal gathering date
will be April 13, 14, and 15. Packing date will be Thursday, the 16th. Volunteers to
help is always welcome and very much needed. Let Karen Kellner know.
On Monday, April 20th, we will be hosting the Glacial Ridge Conference WELCA
Spring Gathering. Registration begins at four o’clock with the meal at 4:30. We
will be serving the main meal with East Zion ladies furnishing the desserts. Some
of you may be asked to assist in the kitchen, clean-up and registration. I will thank
you in advance for your assistance. There is an excellent program planned
following the business meeting. We will be looking at Angels with scripture and
music. Plan now to attend. Our offering, monetary and in-kind, will be ¼ to Safe
Avenues and ¼ to the Girls Ranch. Your in-kind offering may include any personal
care items or kitchen items. The remaining 50% will go to the Conference for their
expenses. There will also be a semi in the NE corner of our parking lot where
some churches will be bringing their LWR and Marie Sandvik clothing drive boxes.
They will also be accepting LWR kits and quilts.
We will be sending our Mission Action School backpacks as well as Personal
care Kits that Karen is making with a Thrivent gift card. Thanks Thrivent and
thanks Karen for all you do.
All of our Work Unit ladies should have received their post card from ORW. We
hope it will make it easy to see what we expect from you and lessen your unit
leaders work load by not having to call each of you for each thing. Put it
somewhere so you won’t forget.
Dianne Doscher has sent an ORW update to Kristina Kent for our church
website. She did a great job. Thanks Dianne. If you haven’t checked Our
Redeemer’s Lutheran Church online, do so now. Just go to Our Redeemer’s
Lutheran Church, you’ll find the ORW under “growing in faith” and then “small
groups.” This website has everything on it. If you misplaced your ORW booklet,
it’s there, if you can’t find your Light and Life, it’s there as is most everything.
Check it out, it is easy and complete.

Happy Blessed Easter to all of you, Bonnie Jaeger
