Case Study-1
Answer 1- Information technologies contribute to the business success of the companies by
creating globalization opportunities, helping the emerging digital firm and improvement in
decision making. Information technology is the fuel of the business world. Information
technology combining with business intelligence gives an advantage to the companies in
measuring customer satisfaction and being user friendly. The information technologies have
led to improved performance of the companies-
E Courier- The shift of the consumers from one courier company to another prevails in this
market in order to save their time and smooth running of business. They dropped the idea of
phone dispatchers but they used GPS tracker on parcels and real time tracking for customers
with business intelligence working on See Why software. This helps in transparent delivery
process and no issues of late deliveries or wrong deliveries.
Cablecom- The company measures customers dissatisfaction by SPSS’s statistical software
and SPSS dimensions survey. The surveys say that customers are satisfaction decreases from
the ninth month and due to technology cablecom reaches the customers by seventh month and
make efforts to retain the customers.
Bryan Cave- Information technology with the help of business intelligence tool has
maximized profits of the company and the hourly leverage. It helps in preparing customized

Answer 2- The law firm’s traditional method of analyzing collected fees and profits used a
spreadsheet that was complicated and took too long and it was better and easy to understand
interface using business intelligence tools. The profits of the company increased substantially
by using first BI tool.
Other professions that would benefit from a use of Business Intelligence technology in a
similar way are hospitals, service industry, real state and banking sector. The record of data
of the patients can be done by creating a data base and the information of the customer should
be saved in the first visit so as to increase the satisfaction of the patients and minimize the
time. In the banking sector, this technology would be boon as in to increase the business
operations and transparency in circulation of money from one place to another. This tool can
be used while recording the details of the customer and to give loans on further checking the
history of the account holder. It also allows mangers to track cash inflow and outflow in real
time so that to make reserves of cash.
Answer 3- When Cablecom build a model that could flag when a customer was at a high risk
of leaving but this model proved only 70% accurate. The dissatisfaction of customers can be
measured using SPSS’s dimensions survey research software to create online customer
survey. When the dissatisfaction of customers starts by ninth month then they should send
alerts and discount coupons at that time so that to retain their customers. The complaints and
problems can be resolved by this SPSS’s software. The companies need to do something
extra to create value in the minds of customers and to increase their credibility and visibility
in the market with the help of technology and SPSS’s software.
No, I would not consider letting leave even a single customer because the customer is
connected with many and if any negative image is formed in the minds of one customer then
it spreads anyhow so utmost satisfaction should be given to the customers and feedback of
customers is important by using SPSS’s dimension survey research software.

Answer 4- Information technology contribute to the business success of Sew What? in many
ways like reduction in cost of operation systems with the barcode systems, getting more
clients to increase its client base further upgradation of site from time to time basis to get
more clients all over the world. The use of quality computer hardware and accounting
software helps in running business smoothly on time in budget. The website of Sew What?
helps customers to give in idea of curtain design and business process reengineering that
provides feedback to enhance the quality of the results. It helps in better customer reach and
website attract lots of customers to her business venture. Information technology has helped
Megan Duckett in transforming her small-scale business into a household name.
Answer 5- If I were a management consultant to Sew What? I would advise Megan Duckett
to use information technology as she is using the idea to digitize the process of production by
the help of scanners to reduce the time in production. To increase the credibility and visibility
of Sew What? Megan Duckett can hire website designer and update its website about awards
and achievement. She can engage with show promoters and open branches in new region
where the demand for the theatrical draperies and fabrics for stages and concerts is high.
Duckett should give flexible considerations in making information technology decisions. She
should never become overconfident while work hard with new ideas to create value for its
customers and profits for the company. With information technology new opportunities can
be implemented, competitive advantage can be gained and ensures improved decision
making.
Answer 6- Information technology is needed for businesses to accomplish their desired goals
as data can be stored in excel to avoid any mismanagement in work and new business model
can be created like websites to increase its visibility and credibility in the minds of the
customers. Tell small businesses about the education and socialization about the usage and
advantage of technology. Small details and achievements should be mentioned on the
website. Example if more employees are working in an organization and its difficult to record
their data manually then customer data base can be created for their attendance and their
salary and many other activities of business.
Small scale businesses providing customer services such as salon or beauty services can use
social media to reach their customers more conveniently. They can allow their clients to
schedule appointments online at their convenience. They also set up online help desks to
handle customer issues. Businesses can be promoted by using video marketing and by online
advertising tools.
