Abstrak
The herbal medicine production process starts from the preparation and stripping
of raw materials, then washing, processing into herbal medicine, and packaging.
Priority Issues for UKM Jamu are in the process of stripping herbal ingredients.
This is because the process of stripping the raw materials of irregular herbs in
UKM herbal medicine still uses conventional and traditional methods, namely with
a knife. In addition to requiring a long time to tiring the workers at the beginning
of the process as well as reduced energy in the next process, the herbal production
process is ineffective, this process is not safe because the knife can hurt the worker's
hands and is not hygienic because the raw material is touched by hand. Based on
the problems in the SME herbal medicine, we raised the title of the Peeler Machine
for Various Bulbs Equipped with Automatic Washers to Increase the Productivity
and Effectiveness of SMEs which are easily moved and do not take up space. In
addition, this machine can improve time efficiency in the work, so that the seller of
herbal medicine can increase productivity and effectiveness.

CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION
1.1 Partner Profile
UKM Jamu Bu Puji is one of the Small and Medium Enterprises that is our
PKM-T partner located in the Lontar area, Sambikerep, Surabaya. This UKM Jamu
Bu Puji has been established since 2010 so that the products have been known in
the wider community which are managed in a family manner and have 2 employees.
The herbs produced in these SMEs are various such as Beras Kencur, Kunyit Asam,
and Sinom with raw materials of ginger, turmeric, turmeric, tamarind, betel nut, and
ginger.
UKM Jamu BU Puji is only able to produce 75 Jamu bottles of 330 ml at a
price of Rp. 6,000 and 25 bottles of 1500 ml size at a price of Rp. 24,000 per day.
So, we can assume that our Partner's gross income is Rp1,000,000 per day. In fact,
because UKM Jamu Bu Puji has been known to the public at large, the number of
requests in the market reaches 200 bottles of 330 ml and 50 bottles of 1500 ml. So
that this UKM is not able to meet market demand. Jamu Bu Puji Marketing is done
online through social media such as Whatsapp, Instagram, and GOFOOD and has
worked with 10 stores to sell Jamu Bu Puji.
1.2 Partner Production Process
The production process of herbal medicine starts from the preparation and
stripping of raw materials, then washing, processing into herbal medicine, and
packaging with the time needed approximately 6 hours per day. First, the raw
material for herbs such as turmeric and peeled turmeric takes 2.5 hours to peel 5 kg
of raw material because it still uses the conventional method with a knife and
irregular shape. After the raw material has been peeled, then wash it with running
water so that the raw material is cleaner. Furthermore, the raw material is processed
into herbs such as blenders, cooked with a pan, and added some ingredients
according to the type of the meal and then stirred. The length of time from washing
raw materials to herbal medicine is 2 hours every day. After the herbs are cooked,
the herbs are cooled for about one hour. When the herbal medicine is cold, the
herbal medicine is ready to be packaged by inserting the herbal liquid into the bottle.
Plastic with the size provided then Jamu Bu Puji is ready to be marketed.
1.3 Problems with Priority Partners
Our PKM-T team has conducted observations and discussions with our
partners UKM Jamu Bu Puji. The results of this observation and discussion indicate
that the Partner Priority Issue is in the process of stripping the herbal ingredients.
In the Process of Jamu Production, Mrs. Puji, the Stripping Process requires the
longest time, which is 2.5 hours to peel 5 kg of raw materials among other
processes. This is because the process of stripping raw materials of irregular forms
in our partner SMEs is still using conventional and traditional methods, namely
with knives. In addition to requiring a long time to tiring the workers at the

It is this priority issue of partners that has resulted in UKM Jamu Bu Puji not being

Rp 3,000,000 every day if the UKM partner Jamu Bu Puji is able to meet the market
demand, but partners are only able to produce 75 bottles of 330 ml size and 25

bottles of 1500 ml every day, so that the income earned is only around Rp1,000,000
every day. If UKM Jamu Bu Puji is able to meet market demand, then the income
of partner SMEs also increases.
1.4 Issues on Partner Priorities

1.5 Aspects of Technology Assistance
Our PKM-T State University of Surabaya team has a creative solution
offered to overcome the Partner Priority Issues found in the process of stripping
herbal raw materials namely SIPENA "Multipurpose Paring Machine" Equipped
with AUTO WAW "Automatic Water Washer" to Increase the Productivity and
Effectiveness of Traditional Herbal SMEs in Sambikerep Subdistrict, Surabaya
City, Multipurpose Paring Machine is a machine that can peel all food raw materials
including raw materials for making jamu using a rotary mechanism that utilizes
centrifugal force, this machine is equipped with Automatic Water Washer, cleaning
technology that uses water media to help smooth stripping and cleaning.
1.6 Problem Formulation
The Creativity Program in the Application of Technology, seeks to solve
the following problems:
1. How is the design of "SIPENA" Multipurpose Paring Machine "Equipped
with AUTO WAW" Automatic Water Washer "to Increase Productivity and
Effectiveness" in accordance with the standards of Traditional Herbal
Medicine UKM in Sambikerep District, Surabaya City?
2. How to make "SIPENA" Multipurpose Paring Machine "Equipped with
AUTO WAW" Automatic Water Washer "to Increase Productivity and
Effectiveness" in accordance with the standard of Traditional Herbal
Medicine UKM in Sambikerep Sub-District, Surabaya City?
3. How to socialize and monitor "SIPENA" Multipurpose Paring Machine
"Equipped with AUTO WAW" Automatic Water Washer "to Increase
Productivity and Effectiveness" which is in accordance with the standards
of Traditional Herbal UKM in Sambikerep District, Surabaya City?

1.6 Purpose
1. Making a design "SIPENA" Multipurpose Paring Machine "Equipped
with AUTO WAW" Automatic Water Washer "to Increase Productivity and
Effectiveness" which is in accordance with the standard of Traditional
Herbal Medicine SMEs in Sambikerep District, Surabaya City ?
2. METHOD
2.1 Observation and discussion with partners
Observation and discussion with partners to see the current conditions of
partners such as partner production capacity, partner working hours, products
processed, waste treatment, so that our tools are able to solve partner problems and
meet the needs of partners.
2.2 Literature Study
The literature study contains a series of search and assessment activities that
are relevant and trusted sources in material collection and become a reference in the
application of technology in the manufacture of our PKMT tools. The literature that
we use is in the form of Machine Element Book I, Machine Element II, Heat
Transfer Book and Article on the explanation of smoked fish processing and the
results of previous related research results.
2.3 Making Tool Design
In this design phase we used the 2015 Autodesk Inventor software. In this
design phase we used the Autodesk Inventor 2015 software, as for the literature we
used in the design of tools in the form of Drawing Technique, Fundamental
Incropera, Machine Elments Design, and journal journals and research articles.

2.4 Making tools
process of working the tool according to the design of the tool that has been
made is done for 3 months by the entire team. The main materials used are like 200
liter drums or barrels, funnels, iron plates, stainless pipes, and gauge thermometers.
The first is to make parts of the initial components such as the production unit,
namely the fumigation barrel and burning barrel, then the waste processing unit, the
condenser.
2.5 Test tools and analysis
At this stage it is carried out to determine the capabilities of the tools that
have been made, whether it is in accordance with the needs of partners. Test our

tools several times to get good results, the results of the trials were then calculated
to determine the performance of the tools in increasing partner productivity.
2.6 Application of tools, Monitoring and Socialization
After the tools made have been tested and got good results, then the tools
are handed over to partners, and conduct testimonials to get the opinion of partners
in the performance of the tool. Monitoring is carried out to monitor the condition
of the equipment used by partners, then documented and retrieved data about
partners, and then the socialization is carried out so that the people around the coast
of Kenjeran know information about our tools.

The processing of our tools is carried out in the laboratory area of the
supervisor for 2 months. The following are the data tools we made from our tools:

process. This is because the centrifugal force gets smaller because of the narrower
space for the raw material.
4.1.5. Implementation and monitoring
On June 14, 2019 the team has handed over the tools and testimonials at the
partners. Partners are happy to receive the tools that we provide for implementation
in their SMEs.
After a lapse of a week on June 21, 2019, the team has carried out the first
monitoring of partners after the tool has been applied for data collection of partner
SME developments and periodic maintenance of our SIPENA tools. The following
are the results of the first monitoring of the implementation of tools in UKM
Partners

UKM Partners feel happy and greatly helped by the existence of this
SIPENA tool, because SMEs are able to meet market demand so that income also
increases.

4. KESIMPULAN
The existence of a Multipurpose Peeler Equipped with Automatic Water
Washer with specifications according to table 4.2 turned out to be able to increase

the productivity of 100% Mitra Jamu because it has a speed of cleaning and washing
30x faster than the manual with the same results. This machine is semi automatic,
so it requires 1 person to operate it. The way to use it is easy because there is a
control box on this tool, and the user can set the desired time to enter the machine,
there is a timer control too.
