CHRIS VILLANUEVA JR. – Bubble Wrap
Paintings
While unpacking a crate for his art show in
San Francisco, innovative Filipino artist
Chris Villanueva Jr. noticed that his
paintings looked interesting when covered
in bubble wrap. From this poured out
countless of paintings of commonplace
objects, classical and popular culture,
literature, art, history, and his own life
and family. He also produced bubble wrap
remasters of famous classical paintings,
appropriating them with the synthetic feel
of plastic into the present setting.

PATRICK CABRAL – Paper Sculptures
Manila-based sculptor and artist
Patrick Cabral uses paper to produce
3D paper portraits and sculptures of
endangered animals in the world. It
uses layers of with ornate lace and
papercut designs. These aren’t
simply paper cutouts, but innovative
3D imaginings with elaborate
designs and shapes.

ART IN ISLAND CREW – 3D Art
Museum
Art in Island is a fun interactive
3D museum in Cubao, Quezon
City. Started on December 25,
2014, Art in Island features
multiple wall paintings that toy
with perspective to create
seemingly 3D images where https://www.facebook.com/artinisland/
visitors can take pictures and
place themselves in unrealistic
situations. Space is utilized in such a way
that 3D images “pop” out of flat walls and floors. The attraction
was created by Filipino and Japanese artists, and is open to kids
and adults.
