GLOBAL WARMING 1

The sun is the source of the primary energy for the earth’s climate. The ozone layer

reflects some of the incoming sunlight back and the rest is absorbed by the surface and the

atmosphere. According to Hansen et al. (2016), there are several key indicators that demonstrate

the presence of the global warming situation. According to many weather stations there has been

significant increase in the surface temperatures over the last decades and the surface

temperatures continue to rise. The ocean heat content has also risen melting glaciers in the arctic

regions, reducing snow cover in the northern hemisphere and causing rising of the see level at a

high rate.

Human activities have been the major cause in presences of extreme weather. The

greenhouse gases effect has been the largest contributor to the global warming. This is because

greenhouses foster atmospheric concentration of the carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide and methane

gases. Also, the inset of industrial revolution has also significantly geared the release of these

gases to the atmosphere (Freije & Salman, 2017).

Moreover, there no distinct solution to the issue of global warming. Some of corrective

measures like cutting off the emission rates of gases. Though the gases emission from

greenhouses continue to pile up, discouraging of putting up of more greenhouses can be effective

way of reducing the concentration of the gases in the atmosphere. Adoption of clean energy such

as electricity, solar and green energy by phasing out fuel energy will be a major breakthrough in

reduction of extreme weather changes. Geothermal, wind, and solar energies are renewable

sources of energy and do not emit toxic gasses into the atmosphere. Also management of the

forest cover across the world as well as agriculture greatly contribute to heat trapping and will

reduce global warming (Cook et al., 2016). Appropriate technologies also need to be adopted to

ensure zero emission of toxic gases to the atmosphere.

GLOBAL WARMING 2

The ideology against the presence of climate change has been influential with activism

taking place. This activism has made people doubt the consensus of science towards the man

made global warming. The climate deniers are tied down to strong corporate interests. Some

companies such as coal industries have opposed the government plans to reduces carbon release

to the atmosphere (Cook et al., 2016).

According to Freije and Salman (2017), global warming will have worse consequences

on future generations if not corrected today. These punishments will include heat waves, more

severe droughts and floods causing death, hotter temperatures and strong storm surges.

Extinction of some animal species may be experiences as well poor food production.

In conclusion, global warming is an inevitable issue that should immediately addressed.

Governments across the globe should work together to address this severe challenge.
