up completely by 6 PM.
● 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM: Case Study to be shared with the participating teams at 6 PM. Analysis and solutioning to be

We recommend 6 PM to 9 PM period for analysis of the case study and creation of the A4 sheets. 9 PM to 10 PM can
be utilized for the video creation and uploading both the A4 sheets with the case analysis and the video.
● Video recording of the four participants presenting the case solution. The presentation of the case solution should
not exceed more than 15 minutes.
● Google Form
The video as well as the A4 Sheet scans need to be uploaded to a Google Drive folder following the nomenclature
‘Team Name_College Name – Case Submission 2020’, which will be created by the participants and shared via email
with hibcp.registrations@sattva.co.in, with the subject ‘Team Name_College Name – Case Submission 2020’. Please
note that the link should be explicitly shared within the email, any submission shared only via Google Drive’s ‘Share’
function will not be considered.
The Solutions (Video + PDF of the scanned A4 sheets) need to be submitted (through the shared Google Drive folder)
by 10:30 PM, after which no submissions will be accepted. The teams get 3 hours to solve the case study, followed by
recommended 45 minutes for recording the video and 45 minutes to upload it to Google Drive.
General Pointers
● Copyright of all the cases belongs to the Asia Case Research Centre of the University of Hong Kong. The case
document should be used for the sole purpose of the HSBC India Business Case Competition 2020. Any publication
or sharing with non-participants will be considered breach of terms.
● Base your analysis on the case facts alone. Do not consider data from other sources, unless it is specified in the
case document. In the national and international finals, mobile phones/internet will not be provided to the
participating team.
● Basic knowledge of key management frameworks will be beneficial.
● The cases provide a broad overview of the timelines in development and scope of the industry or technology being
discussed. Though the overview is, naturally broad, its purpose is primarily to introduce the reader to the subject
matter and provide the right context for further analysis. Additionally, a huge array of exhibits is provided to
facilitate a more granular, in depth understanding of specific aspects. Participants are requested to not be
overwhelmed by the quantum of data available. Not all of it can (and need be) utilised to formulate your solutions.
Be clear in your hypotheses and approach. The data will facilitate a quicker route to your end solution.
● Key case question(s) will be mentioned in the mail body when the case is shared with you. The solution needs
to address this/ these questions. The structure of your solution, however, should not be limited by the questions.
What you present is critical, but how you present is where you can truly differentiate!
● The solution needs to be hand drafted on A4 sheets and a scanned pdf copy needs to be uploaded on a Google
Drive Link that will be shared as explained above. (To quickly scan the pages, you can use CamScanner or an
equivalent app).
● Although there is no restriction on the number of sheets used, brevity & clarity will be rewarded.
● Please ensure that your team and college name are clearly mentioned on the first sheet.
● Further, each team is required to submit a 15 minute video of them presenting their solution.
▪ Set up the camera at or above eye level with the help of a fifth person or a camera stand
Evaluation criteria
● The evaluation will prioritise a clear, concise understanding of the case, robustness of the solution and
presentation skills. The submission will also be gauged on how succinctly the case facts and solution are
represented in the submission.
● Broad heads for evaluation include – Definition of problem and subsidiary issues, qualitative & quantitative
analysis that reinforce each other, evaluation of feasible solutions & recommendations, granularity and realism of
plan of action (costs, controls, timelines and contingencies), submission style and clarity in communication.
Please note that your case submission is complete only if you upload ALL OF THE FOLLOWING:
3. Video Presentation
The team will not be considered for evaluation if even one of the aforementioned 3 requirements are not submitted.
