COURSE OBJECTIVES
1. To understand the basic concepts in the area of entrepreneurship
2. To adopt the key steps in the elaboration of business idea
3. To understand the stages of the entrepreneurial process and the resources needed for the successful
development of entrepreneurial ventures.
4. To know the procedure for preparation of a Business Plan.
5. To make them know about available Medium, Small & Micro institutions
6. To offer knowledge on various financial institutions support that is provided to Enterprises.
COURSE OUTCOMES
After the completion of the course, the students will be able to
1. Have the ability to discern distinct entrepreneurial traits
2. Identify the elements of success of entrepreneurial ventures
3. Know the parameters to assess opportunities and constraints for new business ideas
4. Understand the systematic process to select and screen a business idea
5. They will identify various sources of funding institutions for their enterprises
6. They will be able to design and develop their own business plan with this knowledge
UNIT I: ENTREPRENEURSHIP
Definition, Types - Characteristics of Entrepreneur- Role of Entrepreneurship, Ethics and Social
Responsibilities. Women Entrepreneurship: Role & Importance, Problems of Women Entrepreneurs.
UNIT II: CREATIVITY AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP
Sources of creative Ideas- Planning and Development of Programs -E-business. (B2B, B2C etc.)
UNIT III: SMALL AND MICRO ENTERPRISES
Importance, definitions – Govt. policies and support to MSMEs - growth strategies of small firms –
sickness in small business and remedies.
UNIT IV: INSTITUTIONAL SUPPORT TO ENTREPRENEURS
Role of Government - Role of IDBI, DIC - Financial Institutions - Commercial Banks, Entrepreneurial
Development Programme.
UNIT V: PLANNING AND EVALUATION OF PROJECTS
Growth of Firm – Project identification and selection - Preparation of project plans - Project Feasibility
Study.

UNIT VI: PREPARATION OF BUSINESS PLAN
Analysis of the business opportunity, SWOT, Risk analysis. Description of Venture Products, Services,
Size of business, Background of entrepreneurs, Vision Mission statements.
** Students can be instructed to prepare a Business Plan of their willing by considering above aspects.
