How did you integrate technologies – software, hardware and online in this
project?

Over the recent years, there has been an enormous amount of improvement and
advancements in technology. These advancements have changed the way media texts are
produced and perceived. Our generation is one of digital natives and everything has been made
available to us online unlike ever before. With these advancements, producing texts that would
have taken days and extreme effort before can now be produced within a few hours. With
these technological advancements, it is now easier for people to produce media content quickly
and efficiently. Technologies to produce media content such as laptops, phones and cameras
etc. have become widely available globally, these technologies help and enable people to
produce content on different platforms such as YouTube.

Without technology we would have not been able to make our project as it was used in every
step of our project, from pre-production to our blogs and post- production.

Wixsite was used constantly throughout the project, and even once we had made our final
project, to track our progress. It was more like our online journal where all the information to
track progress from start to finish is available. We used websites such as Genially, Scrib and
Adobe Spark to make presentations on a number of topics and then uploaded all those
documents to our blog. I used YouTube to upload and embed videos on my blog as well. A
number of sites such as Google, Wikipedia and other were used to gather information on
various topics such as music genre and audience theories

WhatsApp played the most important role in every step of production as it enabled me to
communicate to my group members and the actors. UBER helped us to book rides to reach to
school and other places, Google Maps helped us in locating to different places to buy props for
our music video. Google helped me a lot in research for my project, without it I would have not
gathered in depth information about eating disorder and self-acceptance.
Since we had no camera to make our music video, I used my iphone 7 to make all the footage of
our final video as I have a good and firm grip on my phone. I used Canon Rebel XS for the
photoshoot of the artist. After making the footage I used Google Drive to share the footage
with Zeeshan who is the editor of our group. We also used Iphone 6 plus to take behind the
scenes photos and videos of our music video which were later uploaded on our blog. A
combination of these different technologies helped us in making our music video.

We both used Wixsite to build the website of our artist as it is a user-friendly website.

In charge of making the logo, I decided to make the logo on freelogodesign.org as it contained
a lot of fonts, I made 2 logos first but was not satisfied with them, after experimenting some
other fonts and some freedom icons I finally made a logo that was appealing and aesthetic.
I used this font because it was a little feminine and as our artist is a female it complimented
with her. I used the black colour because it shows some mystery and added the bird escaping
the cage icon which represents freedom and overall makes the logo a little interesting.

I emailed the logo to Yusra who used Canva to make the digipak and used it to attach logo as
well. She put flying birds on the border of the front cover which add to the artists star image
and communicates the artist journey to the audience. We kept it simple as you can see the
artist is wearing no make-up, through this we wanted to show that there is beauty in simplicity.
The blue color connotates depression that is why Yusra used it and the she placed an icon of a
pigeon trapped in a cage on the right corner of the digipak.
To communicate we used WhatsApp mostly to discuss about the music video and about the
shoot days and to help each other in every way possible. I also used it to communicate with the
teacher about our progress and would ask her about things related to media. If there was any
problem which we all group members were not able to solve, we used to contact our teacher
through WhatsApp and ask for her help.
We used Windows Editor to edit the music video it took us a lot of time as at first we were not
sure which software we should use to edit the music video. Since Zeeshan knew how to use
Windows editor we used it to edit video. We used Google to download bird sounds and then
uploaded it and synced it to the start of our music. We also used a dark or a little depressing
template in the video when any actor suffering from complex was shown.

Overall digital technology was vital for my entire project as it has become vital in our daily life.
Without these applications and websites, We would have not been able to produce any content
and would have not been able to publish it online as well.
