AP Language with American Literature - Week of March 9-13, 2020 

Weekly Learning Goals  Focus Standards 

Work collaboratively to research and develop arguments for ELAGSE11-12RI6: ​Determine an author’s point of view or purpose in a text in which the rhetoric is particularly effective, analyzing how style and content
debate. Analyze and evaluate sources. Synthesize sources in a contribute to the power, persuasiveness, or beauty of the text. ​CollegeBoard: ​C1—The course teaches and requires students to write in several forms (e.g.,
narrative, expository, analytical, and argumentative essays) about a variety of subjects (e.g., public policies, popular culture, personal experiences). C4—The
literature review and synthesized argument. Use new vocabulary
course requires expository, analytical, and argumentative writing assignments that are based on readings representing a wide variety of prose styles and
in writing. Analyze rhetorical appeals. Determine author’s
genres. C7—The course teaches research skills, and in particular, the ability to evaluate, use, and cite primary and secondary sources. The course assigns
purpose. projects such as the researched argument paper, which goes beyond the parameters of a traditional research paper by asking students to present an
argument of their own that includes the analysis and synthesis of ideas from an array of sources. LO1—analyze and interpret samples of good writing,
identifying and explaining an author’s use of rhetorical strategies and techniques; LO2—apply effective strategies and techniques in their own writing;
LO3—create and sustain arguments based on readings, research, and/or personal experience; LO4— write for a variety of purposes
