consulting firm, today announced it has begun providing various HR technology and operations services to Sony Electronics' human resources in the United States, achieving another milestone in growing its HR outsourcing business. The first phase of the new HR services is now underway.
Hewitt's HR outsourcing services will enable Sony
Electronics human resources to focus on its strategic human resources functions, freeing the HR staff from day-to-day management of essential--but non- strategic--duties.
"We're looking forward to supporting Sony as it
continues to grow and enhance its competitive position," said Bryan Doyle, outsourcing business leader for Hewitt. "Successful companies like Sony want to free up their HR organization and resources to focus on minimizing the cost of HR operations, while dramatically improving HR processes and service levels." "Working with Hewitt, Sony expects to significantly reduce its annual HR-related costs by next year, and to grow that savings nearly three-fold by year five," said Ed Cotter, senior vice president of HR for Sony Electronics Inc. "Meanwhile, the biggest potential for savings lie in the re-engineering and standardization of HR processes and policies, improving service and changing how HR is spending its time to drive organizational performance."
Hewitt is providing Sony Electronics' 14,000 U.S.
employees with these services:
- HR Workways(TM), a personalized portal that
features content tailored for new hires, employees, managers and HR professionals. Information they need can be accessed directly, enabling them to make decisions, take action and link to other parties involved in HR services, such as an employment verification provider and the company's in-house training registration system, and employee self- service for direct deposit and online pay stubs.
- Compensation, providing services for annual salary
planning and administration, special cash awards and unplanned pay changes.
- Integrated Customer Service Center, providing
services for HR data management, and leave of absence administration and support. Employees, managers and HR professionals can contact the center to inquire about benefit and HR transactions. Workforce Relations, delivering policies and procedures information; providing employee communication such as delivering and tracking employee surveys; facilitating employee networking and communities of interest; and maintaining employee records.
- Recruiting and Deployment, providing services for
workforce management including job postings, recruiting sources, applicant tracking processes, applicant profiles, employee onboarding and orientation, transfers and exits.
Succession planning, providing services for strategic
staffing including identifying staffing requirements and tracking high potential employees.
"Unlike other HR outsourcing providers, Hewitt works
with clients to transform the HR organization by upgrading and supporting HR technology (infrastructure, applications) and re-engineering HR processes to help organizations gain efficiencies, instead of taking over systems and functions that may have limitations and capability gaps," said Doyle.
