Section 6. Accidental Release Measures

Small Spill Use appropriate tools to put the spilled solid in a convenient waste disposal container.

Large Spill Use a shovel to put the material into a convenient waste disposal container. Be careful that the product is not
present at a concentration level above TLV. Check TLV on the MSDS and with local authorities.

Section 7. Handling and Storage

Precautions Do not ingest. Do not breathe dust. Wear suitable protective clothing. In case of insufficient ventilation, wear
suitable respiratory equipment. If ingested, seek medical advice immediately and show the container or the label.
Keep away from incompatibles such as oxidizing agents, metals.
Storage Keep container tightly closed. Keep container in a cool, well-ventilated area.

Section 8. Exposure Controls/Personal Protection

Engineering Controls Use process enclosures, local exhaust ventilation, or other engineering controls to keep airborne levels below
recommended exposure limits. If user operations generate dust, fume or mist, use ventilation to keep exposure to
airborne contaminants below the exposure limit.
Personal Protection Safety glasses. Lab coat. Dust respirator. Be sure to use an approved/certified respirator or equivalent. Gloves.

Personal Protection in Case of Splash goggles. Full suit. Dust respirator. Boots. Gloves. A self contained breathing apparatus should be used
a Large Spill to avoid inhalation of the product. Suggested protective clothing might not be sufficient; consult a specialist
BEFORE handling this product.

Section 11. Toxicological Information

Routes of Entry Inhalation. Ingestion.

Toxicity to Animals Acute oral toxicity (LD50): 88 mg/kg [Mouse].

Chronic Effects on Humans CARCINOGENIC EFFECTS: Classified 1 (Proven for human.) by IARC. Classified A2 (Suspected for human.) by
ACGIH.
May cause damage to the following organs: blood, kidneys, lungs, liver, upper respiratory tract, bones, teeth.
Other Toxic Effects on Hazardous in case of ingestion, of inhalation.
Humans Slightly hazardous in case of skin contact (irritant).

Special Remarks on Not available.

Toxicity to Animals

Special Remarks on May affect genetic material (mutagenic).

Chronic Effects on Humans May cause cancer.
May cause adverse reproductive effects and birth defects (teratogenic).
Special Remarks on other Acute Potential Health Effects:
Toxic Effects on Humans Skin: Can cause skin irritation.
Eyes: Can cause eye irritation.
Inhalation: In general, inhalation exposure to cadmium salts can cause upper respiratory tract an lung irritation
and produce the following symptoms, which may be delayed in onset by 6 to 8 hours: metallic taste, shortness of
breath, cough, bloody sputum, rales, weakness, leg pain, pulmonary edema (build-up of fluid in the lungs), chest
pain, and kidney and liver damage. It can be harmful to the lungs. It may also cause "metal fume fever" which is
charactized by flu-like symptoms such as chills, headache, aching, metallic taste, fever.
Ingestion: Harmful if swallowed. Ingestion of cadmium salts can result in nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache,
salivation, cramps, dizziness, convulsions, shock, and death.
Chronic Potential Health Effects:
Ingestion: With chronic exposure, the KIDNEY is the major target organ. Chronic exposure to cadmium salts can
cause kidney stones and damage the kidneys, with elevated urinary protein levels being an early sign of kidney
damage. In rabbits and rats, cadmium sulfate has damaged the kidneys in repeated exposures. May also cause
liver damage, anemia, brittle and painful bones, fatigue, yellow staining of teeth.
Inhalation: Chronic inhalation of cadmium sulfate aerosols has caused loss of sense of smell, bronchitis, lung
irritation, with cough, phelgm, shortness of breath and reduced pulmonary function in humans (emphysema). It
may also cause liver and kidney damage.
Cadmium or its salts are SUSPECT HUMAN CARCINOGENS because of an implied increased risk of prostate
cancer.
