Lesson Evaluation: Reflect and briefly identify what you think went well and what you would like to improve in future practice.
Generally the lesson went well. I can safely say that I managed to follow the lesson plan as I had planned without going astray. I was also conscious of
my time and I tried to make sure that the lesson progressed as per set time, but however I feel that I should have awarded more time to individual work
in class during the final minutes of the lesson. The learning approaches that I used I think they were quite engaging and motivated the students as
evidenced by the high participation during the lesson, especially the practical activity in which the students took part in when they measured bearing
outside gave the learners a chance to clearly appreciate the practicality and usefulness of bearing in real life situation, however in class I feel that time
was wasted as some learners did not have the protractors to measure bearing on the topographical maps. The formative assessments that I used in the
form of printed questions on paper, on whiteboard was useful to me to assess the learners to check their level of understanding so that I could make
informed decisions to proceed or to revisit a concept not fully understood, However I think I still need to improve on my questioning strategies,
especially on wait time. In future I will try to develop my questioning to include the higher order questions I order to stretch the thinking skills of the
learners and to increase the wait time to at least 9 seconds between question and response. On the learning strategies, I feel the pairing of students
was effective as this gave the learners a chance to share and collaborate and this had the desired effect of getting correct answers from most of the
learners. The individual work I gave it as home work but I feel it was better If I had given some of it during class to assess their level of understanding
individually.
