About.
Lyle & Scott is a profitable, privately owned Scottish brand (HQ based in London) with a 140
year history that has built a reputation for crafting high-quality knitwear and other clothing.
They are a brand with true authenticity, heritage and expertise recognised throughout the
world; from early collaborations with Christian Dior to clothing some of the world's golfing
greats. They are a men’s fashion brand and combine this with a solid authority and presence
within the golfing sector with sales which have grown from £10m in 2000 to £30m in 2013.

Their routes to market include wholesaling to key accounts in the UK, Eire, Sweden and the
rest of Europe through a combination of direct sales, agents and distributors and licensing
into Japan. They sell direct to the end consumer and are eCommerce retailers via their own
consumer website to over 50 countries worldwide.

They’re currently going through a phase of extensive growth, with a big eCommerce push
and a number of new stores opening internationally by the end of 2020.

The role.
The new front-end developer will have a substantial impact on the next stage of growth
across the company’s eCommerce website. You’ll be working closely with the Lead Web
Developer to create standout user experiences and improvements to the existing website.
You’ll also deliver weekly homepage updates as well as working with the design team to
build campaign landing pages and promotional emails. In addition, you’ll have lots of
influence, autonomy and opportunity for personal & career development as the business &
department grows.

Front End Developer
£30k - £35k | Pension | Training | 65% Staff Discount | Team Trips

Key duties & responsibilities.

- Create amazing user experiences for the ecommerce website.


- Weekly homepage updates.
- Working with the design team to bring to life campaign landing page.
- Write clean HTML/CSS mark-up and efficient JavaScript/jQuery.
- Collaborate with other team members.
- Email Marketing (Bronto).
- Build reusable code and libraries for future use.
- Other duties as assigned.

Essential skills.

- Proficient understanding of web mark-up (HTML5/CSS3).


- An understanding of client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks.
- Experience working with Content Management Systems (WordPress/Drupal).
- Knowledge of cross-browser compatibility issues and workarounds.
- Good attention to detail.
- Understanding of responsive web development.
- Team player and willingness to support the wider team.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud Suite.
- A good grasp of UX.
- Keep informed of new digital trends.

Desirable skills.

- Experience with PHP/MySQL.


- API knowledge.
- Exposure to eCommerce.
- GIT (Bitbucket/GitHub) experience.

Experience in eCommerce would be very beneficial but is by no means essential. We are


searching for a passionate junior or mid-level developer who’s on the lookout for an
