Aviation Sector: India's Civil Aviation among the fastest-growing aviation markets globally, with
Fy18 recording 20% year on year growth
Passenger Trafc: 3rd largest aviation market by domestic air passenger trafc which stood at
over 12.3 crore in FY18 registering a growth of 19% CAGR from FY14
Airports: 75 airports opened in 75 years of Civil Aviation in India while in 16 months of UDAN,
56 airports & 31 heliports awarded
Airlines: Distance own by Scheduled Operators rose to19,941 crore km (FY 18) from 11.404
crore km (FY 14), recording 15% CAGR growth
Fleet Strength: 587 aircraft of scheduled Indian carriers operating year around; private
scheduled airlines plans to add over 900 aircrafts in the next 5 years
Cargo Trafc: Witnessing continuous expansion with total air cargo handled at ~ 34 lakh MT,
recording a 10% CAGR from FY14
High-quality job creation: 2 lakh people are directly employed in various segments across
aviation industry with substantial growth ahead
Regional
Connectivity Scheme (RCS)
UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Naagrik) - World's rst Regional Connectivity Scheme to Connect un-served & Under-served
airports and boost regional tourism and economic growth; ensures affordable ying at INR 2,500 (39.133 US $) for an
hour long ight. In a century of Civil Aviation only 76 airports connected with scheduled commercial ights in 28 months
of UDAN, 69 unserved airports, 31 heliports and 6 water dromes awarded for connectivity. In three rounds of UDAN, 190
proposals involving around 700 Regional Connectivity routes have been awarded. INR4,500 crore have been sanctioned
for revival of RCS-UDAN airports.
Opportunities
In the coming 20 years, Indian companies will buy The Airport Authority of India (AAI) aims to bring
2,100 new planes worth US$ 290 billion. around 250 airports under operation across the
country by 2020.
