FOX615 as MPLS-TP Multiplexer – PRACTICAL TRAINING EXERCISES

Exercise # 3 (2): VPWS Service over Unprotected Tunnel

Instructions for Student Pair 2 (Nodes 3 & 4)

A. Prepare the Access Ports

Each Node can be configured in a similar way

In the Tree View browse to the ELET1/EPOI1 or ETOP1 unit and Port 1.
Select Main and Port Type
In the table change the Usage to PWAC and confirm with the ‘flash’ button
(PWAC = Pseudo Wire Attachment Circuit)

If you are using ETOP1, then select Main and SFP on the same Port 1 and select in the
Type Configuration the same SFP type that is displayed in Type Status.

Select Main and Admin And Oper Status
Change Admin Status to Up

B. Prepare the MPLS-TP Ports (unless already configured)

All Nodes – Ports 1, 2 on CESM2 – MPLS-TP

1. In the Tree View browse to the CESM2 unit and Port 1.

Select Main and Port Type
In the table change the Usage to MPLS-TP and confirm with the ‘flash’ button

Select Main and SFP

Set Type Configuration = Type Status (e.g. 10GbaseLR)

Select Main and Admin And Oper Status

Change Admin Status to Up

Repeat for Port 2

C. Create Tunnel between Nodes 3 & 4

1. Node 3

Browse to MPLS-TP tab

Select Tunnels in tree
Click + to add new tunnel. Pop-up dialog appears
Index = 2
Name = Tunnel 2
Designation = Initiator
Terminator = Node 4
BFD Session = enabled
Z-end = Port 1
Label Forward Out = 200
Label Reverse In = 201

2. Node 4

Browse to MPLS-TP tab

Select Tunnels in tree
Click + to add new tunnel. Pop-up dialog appears
Index = 2
Name = Tunnel 2
Designation = Terminator
Initiator = Node 3
BFD Session = enabled
A-end = Port 2
Label Forward In = 200
Label Reverse Out = 201

D. Create VPWS service

1. Node 3

Browse to MPLS-TP tab

Select VPWS in tree
Click + to add new VPWS. Pop-up dialog appears
Name = “VPWS 3-4”
Service Type = AC Port Based, No Change
AC Port: Click ellipsis (…) and select ELET1/EPOI1 or ETOP1 unit and Port 1
Tunnel: Click ellipsis (…) and select Tunnel 2
Inbound Label = 2000
Outbound Label = 2000

2. Node 4

Browse to MPLS-TP tab

Select VPWS in tree
Click + to add new VPWS. Pop-up dialog appears
Name = “VPWS 3-4”
Service Type = AC Port Based, No Change
AC Port: Click ellipsis (…) and select ELET1/EPOI1 or ETOP1 unit and Port 1
Tunnel: Click ellipsis (…) and select Tunnel 2
Inbound Label = 2000
Outbound Label = 2000

E. Test network

Connect Ethernet testers (or PCs) to run a throughput measurement (or PINGs) between
the following pairs of ports:

Node 3 ELET1/EPOI1 or ETOP1 unit and Port 1: Node 4 ELET1/EPOI1 or ETOP1 unit and
Port 1

This should be successful
