Course Description : The Study of basic principles in academic writing, paragraph writing and essays, a five-paragraph essay, expository
& argumentative essays, designed to develop students’ competence in writing a five-paragraph essay of expository & argumentative genres
(knowledge and understanding) in English.
Course Learning Outcomes:
At the end of the course, students are expected to be able to:
1. Utilize learning resources and ICT-based learning media to support paragraph writing skills and expository & argumentative essays.
2. Master the characteristics of expository & argumentative essays and being able to apply them in writing practice.
3. Make a decision based on an analysis of essay examples and give ideas for choosing various alternative solutions in making a five-
paragraph essay.
4. Have a responsible attitude by writing a five-paragraph essay in accordance with the relevant theory.
