“The Bible is the Word of God in the words of men”

As a Christian, I definitely believe in this phrase. As we all know, all scripture is a matter
of divine revelation. The words in the bible are God’s words, it is and will always be true.
However, I can say that God is the author and the prophets or the human writers of the scriptures
are the instrument that God is using to make known His wisdom to the people. In short, the bible
is the word of God in human language. The prophetic word in scripture comes through human
beings, but is moved by the Holy Spirit. It is not from the own inspiration or interpretation of
men rather, it is influenced directly by God. Although men, in human language, wrote down the
words of Scripture, these words are still considered to be the Word of God which serves as God’s
communication with humanity.

With this in mind, it is therefore right and just to follow everything that the bible states.
These words are expected to be obeyed in order to live the life that is pleasing to God’s eyes.
The words that the prophets spoke to the people through the scriptures were just as authoritative
as if God had personally spoken to us. Therefore, disobeying the prophets is the same as
disobeying the Lord. As a matter of fact, we can found a passage in the bible at Deuteronomy
18:18-20 in which the Lord said to Mosses “I will raise up a prophet from among their
countrymen like you, and I will put My words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I
command him. It shall come about that whoever will not listen to My words which he shall speak
in My name, I Myself will require it of him. But the prophet who speaks a word presumptuously
in My name which I have not commanded him to speak, or which he speaks in the name of other
gods, that prophet shall die.”

The passage is a clear evidence that really the bible is the Word of God in the words of
men. God created human language so that He could communicate unchanging truths about
Himself to us believers. The fact that God gave us the Bible is an evidence of His love for us.
Hence, may we learn how to love one another in the way that God has loved us. We must apply
the scripture’s teaching to our lives in order to become the person that God wants us to be. The
bible maybe destroyed and attacked down through the years but it still lives on and never
forgotten. With this, may it be an inspiration for all of us Christians to stand firm within our faith
and to stick with the words that have been taught to us.
