INTERNET AND MULTIMEDIA REVIEW

The joy of erotic massage*

There is a whole bewildering pile of video/DVD material out there published in the
name of ‘‘sex education’’ but in reality, invariably it is an excuse for soft porn.
Therefore the company and the people producing such materials are of importance.
The Sinclair Intimacy Institute is well established as a producer of quality audiovisual
aids in our field for therapist and/or client alike. Mark Schoen is a well-known and
respected sexologist who has been involved in producing audiovisual materials in the
field of human sexuality for 30 years that I know of.
There is no doubt about the sensuousness of touch and physical contact. Too
many couples dive straight into penetrative sex, bypassing a truly erogenous
experience that would have served to augment and heighten the climax of the
couple’s passion. In lasting almost one hour this DVD teaches couples to stretch it all
out, to take time in pleasuring one another and satisfying their skin hunger with
principally non-verbal communication. The programme is authored so that it can be
watched in continuity or in sections, which in turn deal with detailed massage of feet,
hands, face, torso, back, breasts and genitals. It is a high-quality production with
photography, lighting, settings, background music and a very descriptive commen-
tary, all being top notch. I believe the strength is in the commentary. When sexually
naı̈ve couples turn to such materials to get a few ‘‘clues’’ about how to ‘‘do it’’ in the
privacy of their own home – that is, in the absence of a facilitator either in a consulting
room or group therapy setting – they are usually no further ahead. Their naı̈veté
impedes their ability to comprehend subtleties unfolding before them. There were
subtleties depicted which went over even this reviewer’s head but for the soft,
explanatory words being spoken. It can be used as a real-time primer, but because
two couples are involved, the cross-cutting can find one having to dart suddenly from
one extremity to the other; still, that too can be fun! Bear in mind that laptops and
now the smaller, portable DVD players lend themselves to taking this disk and those
like it to more intimate settings and also when on vacation. There may be many

people who might decline an invitation to have sex but few will decline the invitation
to have a good, long massage. Here we have a master class.
Since so many of our clients are understandably loathe to enter an adult product
shop for accoutrements such as massage and licking oils, lubes and erotic apparel, the
‘‘extras’’ on this disk include helpful links to Sinclair and in turn how to order
products benefiting from the anonymity of the Internet. Highly recommended.
