Question #1: What are the characteristics that you look into when reading a news article or
watching news published online?
1. Allen Balangue: Date published because the millennials are spreading the old news in the

2. Macy Gandollas: the accuracy of the news article because sometimes it lacks some important
pieces of information
3. Kean Ramos: I think the characteristics that I am looking whenever I search for information
is, of course, the source of the article, the date, and the author of the published article and I think
it is credible to get the information from that website
4. Sophia Laquip: The characteristics that I look into is the publisher that is well- known as
ABS-CBN News, Rappler, Philippine Inquirer, etc. they are reliable, unlike tabloids or news
articles that are obscure.
5. Aleck Mendoza: the first thing that I look into is to see if it is from a reliable source like
ABS-CBN or GMA news and for articles, there should be a brief biography on the author
himself so that I can know that the news is reliable.
6. Ivan Icarro: Relevant and legit
7. Maxine Vales: I look upon the accuracy of the news to see if the facts are written is correct
and a reliable one. Also, I look at the time it was posted or written so that I may be able to
identify if the news is very timely to what is happening at present.

article; date of being published; reading / watching the whole content. 
9. Ericel Alberto: It should be realistic like something possible to happen and factual.
10. Andrea Veah Alcantara: Title. Regardless of the news, it must have good material on it.
Especially, the title. It means a lot and must have a catchy eye so the readers will look into it.

1. Allen Balangue: ABS-CBN NEWS, GMA NEWS, PHILIPPINE STAR
2. Macy Gandollas: the news articles that I usually read is Inquirer, GMA or ABS-CBN
3. Kean Ramos: I only choose news outlets like GMA NEWS, RAPPLER, ABS-CBN NEWS,
and RAPPLER because they are credible for spreading the news which is validated and authentic
4. Sophia Laquip: I only trust ABS-CBN News, GMA News, Rappler, Philippine Daily
Inquirer, etc. and the research papers that are made outside the country like Scribd.
5. Aleck Mendoza: from known news stations, the CNN, ABS-CBN News and GMA news
6. Ivan Icarro: I trust the news regardless of the source

seen them on Facebook and Twitter because these are news which has no valid sources and
which are not authentic and I have seen them more often nowadays

5. Aleck Mendoza: To determine if one article is fake or real, you need to check the source or
the author because through that, we can know if who we can trust with the source, you can
identify if it is valid because most sources are based on facts
6. Ivan Icarro: Fake news is most often believed by many since fake news is very easy and
quick to spread. 
7. Maxine Vales: I would know that it is fake news if the source is not a reliable one. Also, when
the details provided are confusing and generalized without providing facts or evidence that
would support the information given.

friendslist aware of the news being a hoax.

compared to the other news article that I read when it is just a hoax.

4. Sophia Laquip: yes, which my friends tell me and that I realized that it was wrong because
someone also told me it wasn't true.
5. Aleck Mendoza: I think no I haven't shared fake news, for example when I see a news article
posted on Facebook or Twitter, first, I check the comments and if the comments say that it was
fake news and then I click the link and check the author if he/she is reliable

involved at risk.

1. Allen Balangue: So it won’t cause chaos to the whole community because it can create panic
to the whole community
2. Macy Gandollas: you have to identify the news article that you are about to share it with
others if it is legit or hoax because if it spreads, it can cause trouble to people
3. Kean Ramos: it is very essential for every student or every individual, in general, to analyze
and to know if the news is authentic because you will need that information in your researches
and homework in your everyday life, so I think whenever we are searching for information we
always need to verify if the news is authentic because we will also be affected whether our
beliefs and also our values will also be affected if we will just believe the fake news that we are
seeing online.
4. Sophia Laquip: it's really important because a lot of people will be affected if you shared fake
news like for example when you shared a piece of fake news even once, a lot of people will
believe you. After all, people will assume that it was legit news. After all, not all of them are
aware of well-known reliable sources.
5. Aleck Mendoza: Just like nowadays, we live in a world wherein the use of social media is
very prominent and with this, a lot of information coming from a lot of people can be posted in
this social media platforms where we can't identify if it is reliable, legit or it's just another fake

will be no one to be harmed.

others would prevent us from spreading misleading information which may have caused panic,
fear, and doubt to other people. Also, it will prevent us from causing trouble as false rumors
could already be spread all over the world which may affect the people involved for it could lead
to bullying and harassment.
8. Mariah Louise Tagle: Tremendously important. Most people nowadays share news based on
the headline. I cringe when people share old news - a clear indication that people don't even
bother clicking the link on their newsfeed to read the content for themselves. If you are lazy to
take the small initiative to check facts then you have little to no right to share information with
others.

Nicole Calingasan: I look for the credibility of the site/ the publisher of the said news for me to
judge whether it is fake or not. Even though I don't fully trust them If they have a reputation of
not spreading fake news and only spread the right news then I will believe them. I also look into
other mediums that are related to the said content.
Patrick De Ocampo: The concerned people/the persons involved. I don’t read articles or news
that doesn’t concern me.
Aaliyah Monzones: I always look forward to the date it is released.
Rocenda Abanilla: The characteristics that I look into whenever I read a news article or watching
news published online are the people involved and the topic because it gives a big impact on the
level of interest of me reading a piece of news.

of confirmation could lead to no good because false rumours will be spread and could ruin
someone's or your own life. Think before you speak. Think before you click.
