QUESTION 1 [25 MARKS]

(a) If block A in Figure 1 is moving downward at 2 m/s while block C is moving down at
6 m/s, determine the relative velocity of block B with respect to C. [7 Marks]

(b) Figure 2 shown, cars A and B are traveling at speeds of 48 km/h and 32 km/h,
respectively. If B is increasing its speed by 1920 km/h 2, while A maintains a constant
speed, determine the magnitude of velocity and acceleration of B with respect to A.

QUESTION 2 [15 MARKS]

Figure 3 shows a 100 kg suitcase slides down the curved ramp for which the coefficient of
kinetic friction is μk = 0.2. As it reaches point A it has a speed of 1 m/s. Given θ = 56.31°.
