CE 423 – FLOOD CONTROL AND DRAINAGE/IRRIGATION

FINAL REQUIREMENT OUTLINE

GENERAL INSTRUCTION:
1. Each student is required to analyze a certain case published either on the internet or books through
a CASE DIGEST.
2. The research piece or the study could be related with major fields such as engineering construction
or management or structural engineering but most importantly to WATER RESOURCES
ENGINEERING.
3. The issue must be within the Philippine setting only and should’ve happened within the past 15
years only (2005 the earliest). The case should have been presided by a jury or judge and should
have undergone hearing within the jurisdiction of any Regional Trial Court, the Court of Appeals,
or the Supreme Court itself.
4. The abovementioned Final Requirement will be thoroughly checked and evaluated by the Subject
Instructor and will be graded accordingly. The criteria of grading will be:
-all Content of the Case – 50%
Correctness and Accuracy – 30%
Structure of the Case Digest – 20%
The over-all grade will lead to a total of 100%.
5. The submission will be on or before March 20, 2020 (Friday) through Facebook Messenger or
Gmail (jgtongol@up.edu.ph). The file should be in PDF Form and will be sent with a file name of
“CE 423 Final Requirement – SURNAME, First Name M.I.pdf”
Example: “CE Final Requirement – TONGOL, John Vincent G.pdf”

7. The outline of the paper:

 Include Heading
 Main Title
“CASE DIGEST: A Partial Fulfilment of the Requirements in Flood Control and
Drainage/Irrigation”
 Submitted By: SURNAME, First Name M.I.
Submitted To: John Vincent G. Tongol, RCE

 CAPTION. This includes the title of the case, the date it was decided, and citation.
Include also the petitioner, respondent, and the ponente. (These are terms more specific to
law but, look up the meaning to understand them, for wider vocabulary.)
 FACTS. This states the events that are relevant to the formation of the issue.
 ISSUES. Include only those that are relevant. Issues areusually framed in the form of
questions that are answerable by “yes” or “no.” For example: “Is the contract void?”
 RULING. This usually starts with a “yes” or a “no.” This is the answer to the question
involving the issue. After the categorical yes/no answer, the reason for the decision will
be explained.
8. There is no requirement as to how long the case digest should be. As long as the whole case is
already established and ruled by the presiding judge in the court, the case digest is already done. It
would be easier for you to choose a shorter, less complicated case to avoid having difficulty in
accomplishing the requirement.
9. Please include the reference as to where you obtained the case at the end of the main content.

FINAL NOTE:
 Due to the uncertainty of the resumption of classes, students should abide with the most
convenient and accessible measures such as on-line transactions.
 The compliance and submission of the said FINAL REQUIREMENT does not necessarily mean
AUTOMATIC PASSING for this semester since it is just a single part of the over-all requirements
for the semester.
 Students who will fail to comply won’t receive a grade particular to this matter. Any concerns or
clarifications could be raised prior to the notice.
 Thank You and Keep Safe, everyone!
