MatrikonOPC Server for Omron PLCs

Quick Start Guide


This document is designed to get you up and running on the MatrikonOPC™ Server for Omron PLCs
as quickly as possible.

Getting Started
You must have already installed the product to use this Quick Start Guide. For installation
instructions, refer to the Installation section in the MatrikonOPC Server User’s Manual that
accompanies the product software.
Before you can begin, please perform the following tasks, and/or install the following tools/software
on your machine:
 License the MatrikonOPC Server for Omron PLCs. For details, refer to the Licensing
Procedures document installed with the product software.

Working with the MatrikonOPC Server for Omron PLCs


To launch and configure the MatrikonOPC Server for Omron PLCs:
1. Click on the Windows Start button and select Programs -> MatrikonOPC ->Omron ->
MatrikonOPC Omron PLCs.
2. The MatrikonOPC Omron PLCs Configuration window appears.
3. Right-click your mouse on Server Configuration and select Define New from the
displayed menu.
4. Select Ethernet Network. Click OK.
5. Enter a name and choose an Ethernet adapter. Click OK.
6. Right-click your mouse on the newly-created Ethernet Network object.
7. Select FINS Connection from the displayed menu. Click OK.
8. Enter a name, a valid IP address for the PLC and select the transport mode (or accept the
default value of UDP).
9. Adjust the FINS parameters (not necessary when using TCP as transport). Click OK.
10. Click on the File menu and select Save to save the configuration.
11. The Configuration window may be closed now.
To use the MatrikonOPC Server for Omron PLCs:
1. Connect one or more OPC clients to the server.
2. Add the appropriate Omron items with the following syntax:
Ethernet (or Hostlink) Network / FINS (or Cmode) Connection/ Item
