I. BACKGROUND OF THE COMPANY
Mega Global Corporation is a leading manufacturer and distributor of canned goods. It is the
company behind MEGA SARDINES - the Number 1 Sardines Brand in the Philippines, and
other innovative, high-quality and value-for-money products namely, MEGA CREATIONS
Premium Sardines, MEGA TUNA, and MEGA PRIME Canned Vegetables.

Mega Global Corporation commits to exceptional standards of performance, productivity and


professionalism, deeply rooted in a set of core values that the company lives by. Passion for
excellence and continuous learning have become the driving force for success. The company
does its business with integrity and social responsibility which are the foremost consideration in
developing and producing goods. Mega Global is a God-centered company that gives the utmost
importance to our faith and spirituality.
The 12-hour Catching-to-Canning Process is a trademark of Mega Fishing Corporation, the
fishing component of Mega Global. This process means that it only takes 12 hours from the time
the fish are caught up to the time that they are canned, to ensure freshness and high-quality of the
fish in each can of sardines. Mega Fishing operates 65 commercial fishing vessels, making it one
of the largest commercial fishing groups in the Philippines.
The company has two entities namely, Mega Fishing Corporation (MFC) and Ayala Seafoods
Corporation (ASC). Armed with modern facilities, international standard certifications and
equipment for both fishing and manufacturing, Mega Global Corporation is dedicated to improve
people's lives by bringing forth improvements and innovation in fishing, food technology and
packaging.

Mega Fishing Corporation (MFC) is the fishing arm of Mega Global. Equipped with state-of-
the art sonar and fish finders, committed to the 12-hour Catching-to-Canning process, the MFC
fishing fleet is instrumental in creating products of superior quality and value that starts with the
preservation of the fish to ensure freshness. MFC pioneered the fish pump technology in Asia,
allowing the fish to be preserved at a constant temperature to minimize histamine development.

Ayala Seafoods Corporation (ASC) is the canning arm of Mega Global. ASC has one of the
biggest and most modern canning facilities in Asia. It has fully automated lines that complies
with strict safety standards. ASC has been awarded with some of the most stringent and
internationally recognized certifications such as ISO 22000: FSSC, HACCP, EU accreditation,
USFDA, and HALAL. These standards allow Mega Global to export our products all over the
world.

III. MARKETING STRATEGY
Mega Sardines worked with its creative agency, Toy Communications Advertising, and
Facebook Creative Shop to repurpose its TV commercial for a campaign on Facebook. To make
it work better on mobile, the team edited the existing commercial down to 15 seconds, formatted
it vertically to fit on mobile screens, featured the brand prominently in the first few seconds, and
added text overlay for sound-off viewing.

With the reach and frequency buying tool, the brand showed both video and photo ads to
millennials, parents and cooking enthusiasts (among others) living in Metro Manila.

Mega Sardines further used automatic placements to connect with large segments of its target
audiences across the Facebook family of apps, complementing its television reach.

Mega Sardines spiced up its digital marketing strategy with a Facebook video ad, reaching a
large audience base for its new product launch and boosting awareness.

MEGA Sardines in Tomato Sauce
MEGA Sardines in tomato sauce comes in (3) three different sizes and in different packaging
that is produced and sell in the market. The sizes maybe 155 mg and 425 mg that are packed in a
can and the third is MEGA sardines that is packed in a pouch and weighs 110 mg. This variety is
the main product of MEGA that is produced by Mega Global Corporation and Ayala Seafood
Corporation. This product is canned sardines in tomato as sauce. In addition, their cans of
sardines are innovated with easy-open-cans.

Canned sardines are a staple in almost every Filipino household’s kitchen due to their
affordability and convenience. As they can be readily found in any grocery or the corner sari-sari
store, canned sardines remain one of the most affordable and convenient options for a no frills
Pinoy meal. 

Despite how quickly this basic commodity can be consumed, producing a single can takes a
longer process and a ton harder work than one would expect. From catching the sardines to
ensuring their freshness while being transported to production plant for canning and distribution,
producing this canned good is indeed a tedious process.
