During the past few years, the tourism industry has become the leading sector of national development.

However, while some people claim that the economy is boosted thanks to tourism growth, others
criticize it for doing harm to the environment. This essay will look at both views.

On the one hand, tourism sector contributes a huge revenue to the country through economic activities
run by societies around tourist attractions. It is clear that tourism is now becoming an industry that
creates thousands of jobs for citizens in terms of its management, protection as well as promotion.
Moreover, it helps improve the income of local residents through selling souvenirs and providing
tourism services such as hotels and entertainment. Therefore, citizen’s living standard could be
upgraded and the unemployment rate could be reduced. All of these economic activities crucially
contribute to achieving the goals of government to provide job opportunities and to bring the prosperity
of society.

On the other hand, tourism can have a negative impact on the environment. Specifically, excessive
building like roads, and hotels that destroys natural habitats of animals and spoils the landscape. At the
same time, tourism also causes pollution in some crowded areas. Moreover, it puts pressure on local
resources such as food, water, and energy. However, I believe that environmental protection is the parts
of tourism development on how government allocates the budget to tourism sector for creating a clean
environment or promoting ecotourism in which environment are the basis of tourism.

To sum up, I think that although tourism can drive a better economic growth, we should not lose our
sight that tourism also can harm our local environment.

Many people believe that international tourism is a bad thing for their country. What are the reasons?
Solutions to change negative attitudes?

It is argued that global tourism has a negative effect on nations where destinations are often visited. This
essay will identify/examine the possible causes of this phenomenon/issue/matter as well as present
some appropriate solutions.

To start with, some adverse influences could be the result of the following aspects. Firstly, the main
impact is that local people could face with the possibility of a disease outbreak from international
tourists. To be specific, infected diseases can spread across the whole nation and cannot be controlled/
can be out of control. For example, H5N1 flu was quickly widened from China to other countries through
travelers only in short period of time. Secondly, another consequence of overseas tourism is that the
local environment can be severely damaged due to the overload of travelers. Many Hotels and other
facilities are needed to build next to holiday destinations in order to provide adequate service for
tourists to relax during their vacation. As a result, a huge amount of national natural resources such as
wood in forests and stone in mountains would be exploited for building/ construction, which leads to
negative impact including heritage deterioration, climate change, and global warming.

Despite the aforementioned causes, some measures can be taken into consideration to deal with this
problem. The most prominent of which is setting up checking healthy system at the international airport
to track current health condition of each passenger before getting on an airplane. If passengers have
signs of diseases, they must be isolated and transported to the near hospital. Additionally, another
feasible solution can be that eco-tourism should be encouraged more amongst global tourists to protect
the environment by focusing on the natural resources to provide excellent services. For instance, instead
of offering overseas travelers five-star amenities, the government can introduce them to such nature
experiences as living inside a cave or exploring ethnic villages.

In conclusion, there are some various negative consequences of international tourism. However,
controlling tourist‘s health at the airport and promoting eco-tourism should be implemented to tackle
these issues.
