TIMING STUDENTS- THE BENEFITS
¡ According to Julia Marcucci on The Teaching Channel, daily timing of
students:
1. Helps keep the task at hand important for the students.
2. Limits help, keeps the educator organized, and divides time well
for students and more topics [are covered] for learning.
3. Can make a concrete structure for how the class will be taught.
[W]ith time cut-offs, students can learn more topics after the
time has [stopped], instead of lingering and spanning out the
time to make things “easier” [for them]…

experienced during my first year of teaching.

¡ Timed reading or writing (up to 30 minutes)

¡ Timed individual or group work, almost always due at the end of the
period or stamp required (remaining class time- approx. 30-40 minutes)
