Homer is a legendary ancient Greek epic poet writer. His two literary pieces entitled
“The Iliad” and “The Odyssey”, the two greatest epic poems of ancient Greece. These books
have many essential benefits in writers and also in reader. In some blogs iin internet the book
of Homer serve as the guide to mythological writer back it become known and as also from
now on. As for me the purposed of the story of “The Odyssey” is to inspired the reader to
become strong or to become brave to face the problem that they have.

C. Significance

This book review will serve to those people that is lack of confidence and it will help
them to face the problem that they encountering. The book of Homers’ Odyssey is one of the
best book to read not only for the mythology expert,booklover,but, also to those person who
wants an inspiration to their life. Yes, people said that love is the best inspiration,but not only
love that we can get an inspiration and also in some book too.

The book of Homer chosen because of it’s lesson that the reader can get on it. You will
know the culture of Homer by reading this book. This showed how does the Greek people live
back from the ancient time and also from now on but not all are still the same.

D. Comparison
There are so many books that can compared now on the book of Homer. Percy Jackson
and the sea monster by Rick Riordan is same genre of the book of Homer. The genre of the two
book are same adventured, and it’s also mythology that flow in god and human. The two books
showed the culture of the writers or what country that they are pertaining. Homer book
showed the old culture of him that they believed in deities and how opened minded are they in
the era of him while the book of Rick Riordan showed the evolution of Homer’s culture but still
they believed in deities and also they are both creative and how rich of their country.
E. Author
Although is very little known about the life of Greek poet Homer. Virtually nothing is
known about the life of him. He was born sometime between the 12 th and 18th centuries BC,
possibly somewhere on the coast of Asia Minor. He is famous for the epic poems “The Illiad”
and “The Odyssey”, which have had an enormous effect on Western culture, but very little is
known about their alleged author. Once again, the exact locationof Homer’s birth cannot be
pinpointed, although that doesn’t stop scholars from trying. It has been identified as Ionia,
Smyma, or any rate, on the coast of Asia Minos or the island of Chios. But seven cities lay claim
to Homer as their son. Until now, nobody can’t tell the exact life of Homer.

II.Body

Homers’ Odyssey is one of the greatest epic poet of Ancient Greece. These epic as symbol
of Hellinic untity and heroism and as sources of moral and practical instruction. It help many
readers and writers in many ways.

The Odyssey is the story of a man who was always ready for anything. He journeyed far
after the fall of Troy and endured many trials to save himself on their way home to Ithaca. As
the voyage continued, the thing they can’t go home is they hit and blinded the eye of Cyclop
but they don’t even know that he was son of god of seas’ Poseidon. The wished of Cyclop’s
granted of his father that Odyssey and his men endured many trials in the sea but all of his men
are can’t survived, only him escaped from the fury of god of sea. He drifted from the land of
Ogygia where’s Calypso lived and wanted to be her husband. The love and cared of Calypso
can’t returned by Odyssey. After eight years from the land of Ogygia, the gods pitied him except
from Poseidon. And, after twenty years he returned from his home and take ravenge from all
the suitors of his wifes’ Penelopeia with the help of Athena.

That the synopsis of the story of Odyssey but if you read this story, there are so many
lesson you will get and realize in this story. It showed that God is always guiding,protecting and
always in our side even though we not wished it. The best about the story was even there are
so many trial that gave in Odyssey, he never questioned about it because he knew that there is
a reason why God gave that. It simple tells us that don’t questioned God on what problem you
had, maybe we are the reasons why we have it and also it will teach us a lesson. We can’t just
rely on God and also we need to make a move to do things that are impossible. In order to
resolve the problem you need to have courage like Odyssey does. He endured everything and
believe in his self that he can do it. If you will have the courage to face it don’t hesitate and try
to do it. There nothings will change and will gone. As said, God always have a reason why he
give those challenge to us. To know the reason we just not only need courage and also we need
to be stronged. You don’t need to turn back if you think it is difficult and you can’t resolved
it,just try give your all best and it show how strong you are. Losing in a battle is not pertaining
that you are weak one it’s just telling that you are strong because you didn’t give up even you
lose that battle.

II.Conclusion

The book tells us that even in the darkest time of life there is always hope waiting on you.
The thing that we can’t see it was we looking down and afraid to face it but the right thing you
will do is keep your head held up cause God is standing behind us and waiting to us until we
make a move to resolve the problem. Have a faith in God and and also in yourself. This is the
reviewer sees and understand in the book.

Characters

Odyssey is drawn or idea of the warrior of Greek people that are willing to fight and
endured everything or the mark of being Greek people. The author attitude towards his
characters is being playful. He made many trouble,mostly to the main characters. The main
character from start is always ready to anything until in the end. The character delination is
indirect.

Theme
 The major theme of the story is courage. It showed many times in the story. It reaveled
when Athena showned in the land of Calypso and it developed when he start returning in home
and he tell the adventured that he counter with his men and how he overcome all of it. This
kind of theme is familiar, mostly in the mythology stories. Couarge is one the ingredient of the
main hero to survived and overcome all the obstacle he/she had. It is entertaining to read and
not boring and it was time killer.

Plot

The story is in media rest it is because it start from the middle and second is the beginning
and end with the end part.

Setting

The story was held after the fall of troy and mostly in the sea on the way to the home of
Odyssey . This setting had a very important role in the story that make the story exciting and
interisting. Many things are happened in the story where where god of sea gave him an
obstacle. The Scylla is one of the Sea monster with six head that ate six men of Odyssey this is
not just the trial he encountered in the sea and many more. This scene help the setting to
become more efficient.

Biography

The book did not showed a full-length picture of the subject and it was not broad as the
real book of “The Odyssey”. This book is already in summarize it not tell everything or specific.
But still the subject get a great treatment in the story it happened when Athena helped him
and when he and Teletemachos reunited again after a decade. In this book the author point of
view is third person. This point of view is very common in the writer because it easy to use it.
