excuse medical emergencies with a doctors’ note. Being present in class also means being
engaged- please come prepared to discuss the readings.

Understanding Management Practice (Field work)

This assignment is in line with course learning outcome number three and four (3 & 4) which is
“analyze contemporary issues in current and challenging management environment” and “apply
various management related skills and leadership styles to match the situational favorableness
and environment.”

What you need to do?


1. Choose a company (can be your own company too) and interview 2-3 managers.
2. Use the questions from “The Culture Web” – stories & myths, symbols, power structures,
rituals & routines, control systems, and organizational structures.
3. Document your interviews using recorded video, pictures, and writings.
4. Write a report of your findings (Arial, font 11, 1.5 spacing, 5 pages):
a. Background profile of the company
b. The interviewed managers roles (background – position/organization tenure; job
scope; and etc)
c. The answers to the questions you asked
d. What you have found and what you suggest the company should do in the future.
e. Identify the leadership traits of the Manager that you interviewed and justify.
5. Submit the report by week 6.

Group Presentation 1 (10%)


Understanding Management Practice (Field work) - Presentation

Prepare presentation for the field work report as follow:


a. Background profile of the company
b. The interviewed managers roles (background – position/organization tenure; job
scope; and etc)
c. The answers to the questions you asked
d. Short video of your field work
e. What you have found and what you suggest the company should do in the future.

The presentation is a group work and it will be conducted during week 6.
