Teaching is important to me because teaching is the job than pans out many students to

trek into very successful careers. I have wanted to be a teacher since before I can remember
because I recognized the impact my past teachers have had on me. My teacher was able to
open me out of my shell and I started to feel more comfortable in her classroom. Ever since I left
that teacher, she still stayed a vital part of me forever. Teaching is important to me because you
never really know what is going on in a child’s mind, they may have nobody or they may just
need somebody to brighten their day every once in a while, and a teacher can do that.
My aspirations for myself as a teacher is that I can educate my classroom to the best of
my ability, while building strong and everlasting relationships with every single student that
walks into my classroom. I believe that no matter the grade, the school system and teacher a
student has will impact their vision on school and either build up or tear down the hopes and
dreams they may have put together themselves. With that, the role I wish to have as a teacher
is to be able to effectively educate every student on their class curriculum, to get to know every
student on an individual level, and to help students set up boundaries for their behavior as well
as their peers. Along with these standardized goals, I hope to introduce a fun-filled learning
environment and ensure every child feels encouraged when they step foot into my classroom.
There is only so much a teacher can impact once the student leaves the classroom so I hope to
inspire my students as much as I can while I am their mentor. I believe that students should
always put in a full effort if they hope to gain anything in return as well as attempting to bind with
their peers despite any differences.
I strongly believe in the teaching philosophy of Essentialism, especially for Elementary
School. These students are so young and wild so the teacher needs to establish order in the
classroom in order to move on to the education part of school. If students are free to do what
they wish to throughout the day, chaos can strike. A teacher needs to set guidelines and
boundaries while staying consistent throughout the year. One of the main necessities of
teaching is lesson planning; the lessons set up the classroom every day and are critical
because they need to be both informative and align with the curriculum. I will set my rules and
standards as the start of the year and expect my students to follow them with minimal warnings.
Since I plan on teaching Elementary School, my students will need occasional warnings when
they get super excited. I will follow the required accommodations and keep their disabilities as
well as their abilities in mind when addressing them, while still keeping confidentiality. I will
assess their understanding of materials by doing little things like asking the class questions as
we go along with every daily lesson. I will also test students when during Istation and little
competitions and using kahoot like programs and give projects that will help see what they know
as well as summative assessment tests. Since I hope to teach elementary level I will prepare
them by doing a little practice test for STAAR (for older students). Overall, Essentialism is
important because it is critical to set up strong and firm rules for the classroom in order to
maintain an orderly classroom.
Also, I believe that Existentialism is really important to my classroom because it is
important to encourage students to be a free agent of their life and take responsibility for their
actions. I am also a firm believer in getting to know my students personally and treating my
students fairly. I want to be a part of their lives even if our personalities do not mix, I want them
to know that I will be there for them. A solid mixture between routine and discipline and a caring
mindset as a teacher is a necessity for me so that I can have structure and build on my
relationships. I will try to find activities that will help them learn the information and are fun at the
same time because that keeps the students truly believing that learning can be fun as well as
brain breaks to keep my students more focused. The role of the school in society is to educate
children on the necessary curriculum as well as extra information needed for my students to be
successful and helping your students to rise above the future problems they could face.b
Learning to me, means trying new things and always improving on the knowledge you are
taking in. It is natural to fail and you will not always succeed but learning pushes children to take
initiative to take their mistakes and then moving onto bigger and better things. I believe the
classroom should be centered on a positive, no judgement ideal which allows all of the students
to speak freely. Allowing students to freely communicate thoughts and question topics, gets rid
of all the fear from speaking up and just allows each student to learn and grow.
I think that it is critical for each student to know most, if not all, of their classmates
personally, not only to be more confident when voicing answers, but to also to grow friendships
that you would be comfortable talking to throughout the year. There are so many classrooms
where every student has a specific clique and some classrooms center around the ideal that it is
ok not to know everybody’s name in your class. In my classroom, I will expect every student to
know every one of the classmates’ names and know some small facts about them, no matter
their differences because you never know what type of impact a fellow student can imprint on
your life. “The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher
demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.” By William Arthur Ward. Teachers that merely
scratch the surface of their abilities are still amazing teachers but every step further you take
while educating the students of your classroom, showcases your growth as a teacher. In order
to be the best teacher you can be, as I hope to strive to be, not only tells, explains and
demonstrates, but they also inspire their students to be the best possible version of themselves.
