1.0 INTRODUCTION :
The WHP-SVSW Jacket is a tripod jacket and will be installed in average water depth of 48.990
m with one pile at each leg. The total number of piles to be driven is therefore three (3). Each pile
comprises five (5) segments with out-diameter of 1219.0 mm with non-uniform wall thickness.
All piles will be driven through the jacket legs, with batter of 1:12 at leg A2,A4 and 1: 6.928 at
legs B3. Appendix A shows the pile make-up. The target pile penetration is 99.8 m below mud
line, which is equivalent to 100.146 m of inclined penetration (note: inclined penetration was used
for analysis).
2.0 PURPOSE :
The purpose of this document is to address the engineering issues of the SVNE Pile structural
integrity check during upending stage. The structural integrity check for pile during transportation
is presented in report “SVSW piles transportation stability analysis and Sea fastening Design
Report”. Document No: “2013-1489-6R-3008”.
3.0 DEFINITION:
CLJOC : Cuu Long Joint Operating Company .
VSP : Vietsovpetro Joint Venture.
SVSW : Su Tu Vang South West
WHP : Well Head Platform.
4.0 SCOP OF WORK:
The aim of this analysis is to determine the structural integrity of the piles during handling stages.
The analysis covers two critical upending and lifting on VSP-05 Transportation Barge by Truong
Sa Barge Crane.
5.0 CODES & STANDARDS :
-API API RP2A(WSD) 21st Edition-American Petroleum Institute.
-AISC Manual of Steel Construction (ASD) 9th Edition-American Institute of Steel Construction.
6.0 UNITS:
This report use metric units of measure based upon the International System of Units in all
documentation and drawings, in accordance with Metric System of Units:[m],[kg],[s],[N].
Tones are used for weight reporting purposes (1MT=1.000kg).
7.0 ANALYSIS AND DESIGN SOFTWARE :
- The analysis have been carried out by spreadsheet hand calculation in accordance with code and
standard requirement.
8.0 ANALYSIS CASE :
-Lifting pile : the structural integrity of piles was investigated based on spreadsheet/hand
calculation with dynamic amplification factor of 1.2 and a consequence factor of 1.3 in
accordance with DNV Fixed Offshore Installations-Lifting Operation (June-1996).The strength of
pile during lifting is found tope satisfactory. Detail calculations are present in Appendix B.

AND CPP MODIFICATIONS SuTuVangSouthWest
-Upending pile: Upending operation is to be performed by using lifting gear attach to the top of
the pile and stopper. The integrity of the pile was checked considering the case starting from pile
at initial upending phase to pile at 85 degree.
9.0 DYNAMIC LOAD FACTOR :
- Overall Factor =DAF * Consequence Factor * Weight Contingency Factor
=> Overall Factor =1.2*1.3*1.05=1.638
10.0 DESIGN PILE PARAMETERS:
-All pile are made up of various thickness and grade to withstand the different loading stages as
required. The following table presents information of pile section make-up, grade and wall
thickness for SVNE Jacket.
The Piles were modelled as follows:
Pile diameters =1219 (50 inch)
Wall thickness and Pile length shown in Table 3.1.
Elastic modulus=2.08x10^5 N/mm2
Specific minimum yield strength of steel=345 N/mm for Type 2 steel.
Specific minimum yield strength of steel=415 N/mm for Type 2A steel

11.0 ANALYSIS RESULT:
- The maximum combined stress ratio for the pile 1219x60mm length 51m during upending
under Self-weight with Dynamic Amplification Factor ,Consequences Factor and Weight
Contingency Factor is 0.44 with α is 15 degree .
-The maximum horizontal reaction at upending stopper is 60.6MT with α is 45 degree.
12.0 CONCLUSION :
The structural intergrity of the pile was analysed during offshore installation lift and upend
operation.Members were check allowable values in accordance with API RP 2A and AISC code
check requirement.Result of the analysis show that all stress ratio are less than unity. It can be
concluded that the Piles is structurallay adequated during offshore lift.
13.0 PILE HANDLING SEQUENCES :
- Slings will be installed to the pad-eye of the pile and connected to Truong Sa’ hook. The pile
was lifted up from transportation barge deck where the pile will be upended into correct position
to be stabbed into the jacket leg.
