2. TIR and Being a November 19, Emily Hicks
Successful Student 2019 presented Teacher 10:30-12:00 information about the Teacher in Residence (TIR) program and being a successful student teacher. 3. CAEP Family January 7, 2020 I completed the Engagement Course 9:00 – 10:15 CAEP Family Engagement courses online. The courses talked about how to create positive relationships with families and how to communicate. 4. IRIS Center – March 17, 2020 I completed the Accommodations: 9:30 – 10:30 Accommodations: Instructional and Instructional and Testing Supports Testing Supports for Students with for Students with Disabilities Disabilities module. After working in classrooms with students that have many different disabilities, I thought this module may give me more ideas of how to accommodate. 5. IRIS Center – March 17, 2020 I completed the \ CSR: A Reading 2:00 – 3:00 CSR: A Reading Comprehension Comprehension Strategy Strategy module. I learned a lot about how to implement the preview, click and clunk, get the gist, and wrap up strategies. I think it will be a big help in my future classroom.
6. IRIS Center – March 17, 2020 I completed the
Differentiated 3:15 – 4:00 Differentiated Instruction: Instruction: Maximizing the Maximizing the Learning of All Learning of All Students Students module. I am still struggling with differentiating instruction in the classroom. This module had a lot of great information for future use. 7. IRIS Center – March 17, 2020 I competed the Functional 8:00 – 9:45 Functional Behavioral Behavioral Assessment: Assessment: Identifying the Identifying the Reasons for Reasons for Problem Behavior Problem Behavior and Developing a and Developing a Behavior Plan Behavior Plan module. I was faced with many challenges of a problematic student in my 1st student teaching placement. I wish I had taken this course during that placement so that I could have tried some of these ideas out. I definitely have a bunch of ideas for future reference if needed! 8. IRIS Center – March 18, 2020 I completed the IEPS: Developing 9:00 – 10:45 IEPs: Developing High-Quality High-Quality Individualized Individualized Education Education Programs Programs module. I recently attended an IEP meeting for a student in my 1st placement. It was interesting to hear the discussions that took place. I am also pleased to say that I believe our meeting followed all guidelines, to a T. I believe that student will greatly benefit from having special education services provided. 9. IRIS Center – March 18, 2020 I completed the Universal Design 2:00 – 3:00 Universal Design for Learning: for Learning: Creating a Learning Creating a Learning Environment that Environment that Challenges and Challenges and Engages All Engages All Students Students module. I found this module interesting. It explains how to create learning goals to apply and appeal to all learners. I like the idea of giving students options to complete a learning goal. For example, allowing students to submit a written report, an oral report, a video, etc. for whatever the assignment may be, like their response to Indian Burials. 10. IRIS Center – March 18, 2020 I completed the Autism Spectrum 3:15 – 4:00 Autism Spectrum Disorder: An Disorder: An Overview for Overview for Educators Educators module. I was interested in this module because there is a child in my 2nd placement who has been diagnosed with autism. Getting to know this student seems like a great place to start. I have already created a relationship with the student. They like hugs, they like to feel the pressure of being hugged, so every morning they come for their morning squeeze! I always try to ask how they are feeling, and what they want to do today. I definitely plan to implement more of this module with this student if possible.
