A. Company Profile

West African Resources Ltd is one of many company that engages in mineral
exploration and mining. This company was manage the operation of Sanbrado Gold Project
in Burkina Faso, West Africa. A successful achievment that obtained by this company is
produced 301,000 oz gold from underground and open pit mining in one year production.
However, West African Resources Ltd now looking for a new opportunities on gold
exploration in another places. The company has interest to Tanlouka and Sartenga gold
exploration whis has copper-gold-molybdenum resources in a porphyry system. Both of
resources appoximately has 174,000 tons of copper and 651,000 tons of gold. Furthermore,
the company take a responsibilities in local environmental sustainability. Cooperation
between the company, government, NGO’s, and local community has been agreed on
providing health and safety area. Moreover, the company has been built two schools and 17
water wells to support local community activities.
B. Job Description (Resource Geologist)

West African Resources is seeking to employ an experienced Resource Geologist to

work as part of the Company’s site based technical team providing professional support to
the Sanbrado Gold Project located in Burkina Faso.

Responsibilities :
• Create, review and validate all geological models.
• Oversee resource definition drilling activities.
• Coordinate validation of data for resource estimation and approve clean and complete
data sets.
• Diligently analyse resource data applying appropriate estimation methodology to
generate JORC and NI 43-101 compliant mineral resource estimates.
• Generate accurate geological, mineralisation and structural models using only
validated geological data.
• Thoroughly document completed resource estimations as per company standards.
• Coordinate and compile mineral resource memos, statements, JORC Table 1’s as and
when required.
• Manage QA/QC systems and report to ensure the high standard of data.
• Maintain and improve quality control standards for sampling and grade control.
• Manage the updating of drillhole datasets to site.
• Liaise with and advise Mine Planning Engineers on approach to mine design for new
or revised resource estimations and inherent risks/future potential in the estimations.

Candidate Requirement :
• Tertiary qualification in Geology, preferably with honours, from a recognised tertiary
institution.
 • Resource geologist with at least 5 years experience in an operating gold mining
environment and experience in both linear and non linear geostatistical methods for
resource estimation.
• A background in Underground and Open Pit mine geology.
• Provide Competent Person sign-off as required.
• High level Surpac, Supervisor, Leapfrog and DataShed user.
• Feasibility and project development experience would be highly regarded.
• The ability to share knowledge and information in a logical and consultative manner.

C. Self Achievements

I have several skills to get a dream job in West Africa Resource Ltd as Resources
Geologist, there is hard skill, soft skill, and some knowledge which may suitable to that
position in the company.
Hard Skill :
• Accustomed to use mining software such as ArcGIS and Surpac.
• Very familiar to every types of gold deposits.
• Strong geological skills in structural geology, ore geology, petrology, geochemistry,
and volcanology.
• Able to work with scientific method.
• Microsoft office skills such as Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
• Experienced in mineral exploration drilling.
Soft Skill :

• Good Communication in english, both of writing and conversation.

• Able to work as individual or in a team.
• Adaptive to new work environment.
• Create creative problem solution.
• Very usual to deadline work.

D. Things That I Have To Be Prepared To Get Resource Geologist Position

According to job description and candidate requirements of this job vacancy, there
are several things that must be fulfilled (Table 1).

From the Table 1, there are many things that i must be prepared if i want to achieve
the position as Resource Geologist at West African Resources Ltd. There is 5 years
experience as a geologist in underground or open pit mine, experience in project
management, communication in logical and consultative manner, and i must build a good
career networking. This may take a long time to get that position in the company. Thus, i
have to prepare the strategy which i will do in the next 8 years
The strategy is work for Indonesian mining company for 7 years after my graduation
from the college. Second, i will build a good career networking by following student
association activities like seminar or workshop and following the scientific conferences.
From all of that, communication skill will increase by itself. All of my strategy contained in
flow chart below (Figure 1).
