Frida Kahlo loved florals. She often incorporated these florals into her
artworks. This project gives a tribute to her by ornamenting her with
florals and other elements of nature. The embroidery done here incul-

In Taoism, yin and yang further symbolize the dueling sides of all
things and the perfect balance and harmony of them. The circular
movement of the fish represents the belief that all things in life are
connected.

Nature has always inspired art since the beginning of time. From Van
gogh’s ‘Irises’ to the first functional aircraft by the Wright brothers, nature
has always been a huge focal point for art.

This particular design was inspired by the elegant patterns formed by
the petals of roses. Loosely inspired from the golden ratio, the design has
patches converging inside into the rose which is a symbol of the inspira-
tion. The fabric used has stripes which shows a depth perception.

Phirki
The design takes inspiratjon from the Indian toy ‘phikri’, a pinwheel, co-
lourful paper made toy which spins when the wind is blown.
The layout takes inspiration from the pinwheel and the fabrics used re-
picts the vibrant nature of the toy.
