Abstrack

Lifestyle in today's society has become a necessity, one of which is the development of technology in
today's life. Changes in learning are necessary because of the rapid development of technology. The
development of information and communication technology continues to increase as human needs
increase, without exception in education. Kecenderuan the use of the symbol "E" which is interpreted as
electronic, has begun to emerge and is applied in almost all fields. Call it e-education, e-government, e-
learning and so forth, the participation of teachers in applying the use of information and
communication technology more precisely for the necessary to give more representation to the
generations More precise and useful technology.

The rapid technological advances are undeniable to pamper people, for example in communicating. The
interaction that happens with the help of technology becomes easier and more diverse. Technology in

Introduction

The rapid development of information technology in the era of globalization is now inevitable impact on
the world of education. Global demands require the educational world to always and continuously adapt
the development of technology to efforts in improving the quality of education, especially the

of change and innovation in the world of education will continue to occur and develop into the 21st
century today. Such changes are: easier to find learning resources, more options to use and utilize ICT,
the increasing role of media and multi-media in learning activities.

Method

I compiled this research using descriptive methods in a qualitative form. Qualitative research is research
that intends to understand phenomena about what is experienced by research subjects such as
behavior, perception, motivation, action, and others; holistically, and by way of description in the form
of words and language, in a particular natural context and by utilizing various natural methods.
Result and Discussion

In the life of a country, education plays a very important role to ensure the survival of the nation and
nation, because education is an attraction to improve and develop the quality of human resources.
Along with the development of computer technology and information technology, schools in Indonesia
have time to develop its management information system to be able to keep up with the changing
times.

The information and communication system is able to provide management facilities to carry out its
activities and increase the credibility and accountability of the school in the eyes of students, parents,
and general public. The application of information technology to support the education process has
become the need for educational institutions in Indonesia. The utilization of this information technology
is needed to improve efficiency and productivity for education management. Success in improving
efficiency and productivity for education management will contribute to the survival of the institution
itself. In other words, delaying the application of information technology in educational institutions
means delaying the smooth education in facing global competition.

Technological and information advances are a reality of the development of world civilization that
provides many access to the changing patterns of people's lives in various fields. This condition also
contributes to the efforts of changes in the learning or education system. Therefore, the world of
education is always required to continually follow the growing flow of scientific and technological
developments, because the education that is still struggling to the instructional rigid curriculum will only

With the use of technology in the educational world, hopefully will be able to shift the nature of

A. Utilization of information and communication technology in education

The rapid advancement of technology that penetrated every line and sector of community life, has
made all the problems can be handled easily and quickly, through a technology-based system.

In the context of education, lately has been introduced a technology-based learning model with various
terms used, such as: Computer Assisted Intsruction (CAI), Computer Based Education (CBE), ICT,
Computer Based Training (CBT), Computer Based Instruction (CBI), Distance Learning, Distance
Education, Cybernetic Learning Environment (CLE), Desktop Video Conferencing, Integrated Learning
System (ILS), Learner-Cemterted Classroom (LCC), Teleconferencing, WBT ( Web-Based Training), and so
on. All of these terms are essentially the same, referring to a learning system that relies on technology
utilization.

The utilization of information technology and communications in the field of education has been
conducted in developed countries. In the United States, for example, the utilization of computers and
computer networks has been conducted since the 1980 's. Each student has the opportunity to access
the lessons presented in an interactive form through a computer network. The utilization of this
information and communication technology was successful in improving exam results, drop-off rates,
and decreased absence rates in the classroom.

In Indonesia, Internet utilization as a means of education is still minimal. For college level only, only a
few colleges are utilizing information and communication technology, and that is not the maximum.
There are still many applications on the Internet that have not been used to support the activity of the
investigation done. For the primary and secondary level of education, the utilization of information and
communication technology is much more minimal.

There are many forms of information technology and communication in the field of education that can
be done, among others as follows:

1. Computer-based Learning

Nowadays the computer is no longer a rare item, even all affairs in human life, from the start of Office
business to personal affairs, currently can not escape from the use of computer devices with the
facilities in the It. No exception in the world of education.

Therefore, to utilize the technology of the computer, in the context of learning, today has started to be
offered many kinds of software that contains the content of subjects, one of which is known as the term
"Computer Assisted Intsruction (CAI) "or" Learning with help (Media) computer ". Other terms are:
Computer Assisted Intsruction (CAI), Computer Based Education (CBE), ICT, Computer Based Training
(CBT), Computer Based Instruction (CBI).

2) Sharing the results of research, information and communication technology, in this particular
internet, has been widely used as a source of information to support education. Internet has been
utilized to share the results of research done in different parts of the world. This causes the results of

or mailing list on the Internet.

B. Examples of use of information and communication technology in education

Definisi TIK bagi dunia pendidikan seharusnya berarti tersedianya saluran atau sarana yang dapat dipakai
untuk menyiarkan program pendidikan. Namun hal Pemanfaatan IT ini di Indonesia baru memasuki
tahap mempelajari berbagai kemungkinan pengembangan dan penerapan IT untuk pendidikan
memasuki milenium ketiga ini khususnya untuk sekolah – sekolah konvensional umumnya belum
tersentuh oleh teknologi dan komunikasi. Padahal penggunaan IT ini telah bukanlah suatu wacana yang
asing di negeri yang sudah maju. Berikut ini ialah sampel-sampel dari luar negeri hasil revolusi dari
sistem pendidikan yang berhasil memanfaatkan Teknologi Informasi untuk menunjang proses
pembelajaran mereka:

1. Sekolah Dasar (SD) River Oaks di Oaksville, Ontario, Kanada, merupakan contoh tentang apa yang
bakal terjadi di sekolah. SD ini dibangun dengan visi khusus: sekolah harus bisa membuat murid
memasuki era informasi instan dengan penuh keyakinan. Setiap murid di setiap kelas berkesempatan
untuk berhubungan dengan seluruh jaringan komputer sekolah. CD-ROM adalah fakta tentang
kehidupan. Sekolah ini bahkan tidak memiiki ensiklopedia dalam bentuk cetakan. Di seluruh
perpustakaan, referensinya disimpan di dalam disket video interktif dan CD-ROM-bisa langsung diakses
oleh siapa saja, dan dalam berbagai bentuk: sehingga gambar dan fakta bisa dikombinasikan sebelum
dicetak;foto bisa digabungkan dengan informasi.

2. SMU Lester B. Pearson di Kanada merupakan model lain dari era komputer ini. Sekolah ini memiliki
300 komputer untuk 1200 murid. Dan sekolah ini memiliki angka putus sekolah yang terendah di
Kanada: 4% dibandingkan rata-rata nasional sebesar 30%.

3. Prestasi lebih spektakuler ditunjukkan oleh SMP Christopher Columbus di Union City, New Jersey. Di
akhir 1980-an, nilai ujian sekolah ini begitu rendah, dan jumlah murid absen dan putus sekolah begitu
tinggi hingga negara bagian memutuskan untuk mengambil alih. Lebih dari 99% murid berasal dari
keluarga yang menggunakan bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa kedua.

Namun sekarang penerapan teknologi informasi sudah mulai banyak dipergunakan di instansi –
pendidikan maupun sekolah- sekolah berstandar internasional di indonesia. Dan yang merupakan salah
satu produk integrasi teknologi informasi ke dalam dunia pendidikan adalah e-learning atau elektronik
learning. Saat ini e-Learning mulai mengambil perhatian banyak pihak, baik dari kalangan akademik,
profesional, perusahaan maupun industri. Di institusi pendidikan tinggi misalnya, e-Learning telah
membuka cakrawala baru dalam proses belajar mengajar. Sedangkan di lingkungan industri, e-Learning
dinilai mampu membantu proses dalam meningkatkan kompetensi pegawai atau sumber daya manusia.
Dari dunia akademis metode pembelajaran ini sudah mulai banyak diterapkan dan dikembangkan. Ambil
contoh penerapan e-Learning di kampus ITB, IPB, UI, Unpad, Universitas Hasanuddin, Universitas Negeri
Malang, dan universitas lainnya baik negeri maupun swasta, seperti Universitas Bina Nusantara (Ubinus)
Jakarta.
Selain itu dalam hal penghematan waktu dan kecepatan penyajian informasi akibat penerapan teknologi
informasi juga memberikan kesempatan kepada guru dan pengurus sekolah untuk meningkatkan
kualitas komunikasi dan pembinaan kepada siswa. Dengan demikian siswa akan merasa lebih
dimanusiakan dalam upaya mengembangkan kepribadian dan pengetahuannya.

Sebagai contoh yang paling utama adalah sistem penjadwalan yang harus dilakukan setiap awal
semester. Biasanya membutuhkan waktu lama untuk menyusun penjadwalan, Dengan sistem informasi
dani komunikasi dapat selesai dalam waktu singkat. Untuk mempermudah bagian administrasi
kurikulum sekolah, sistem informasi dani komunikasi menyediakan fasilitas istimewa yang merupakan
inti dari sistem kurikulum sekolah yaitu membantu dalam pembuatan penjadwalan mata pelajaran
sekolah yang dapat diproses tidak lebih lama dari 10 menit. Administrator hanya akan memasukkan
kondisi dari masing-masing guru yang akan mengajar baik itu dalam 1 minggu seorang guru dapat
mengajar berapa jam, selain itu dapat juga melakukan pemesanan tempat dan penempatan hari libur
masing-masing guru dalam 1 minggu masa mengajar. Setelah semua kondisi dimasukkan, sistem akan
memproses semua data tersebut sehingga menghasilkan jadwal yang optimal dan dapat langsung
dipakai karena sistem akan mendeteksi sehingga tidak akan ada jadwal yang bertumpukan satu dengan
yang lainnya.

siswa, yang dapat melakukan pengisian hanya Guru yang mengajar mata pelajaran. Sistem penilaian
telah disesuaikan dengan KBK (Kurikulum Berbasis Kompetensi) sehingga masing-masing guru dapat
memasukkan deskripsi narasi dari mata pelajaran. Untuk menampilkan data penilaian dapat disesuaikan
kembali dengan kebijaksanaan dari masing-masing lembaga pendidikan apakah ingin menampilkan data
nilai akhir siswa maupun menampilkan data nilai siswa setiap kali mengadakan test ataupun tugas
tertentu.

Selain Modul untuk penjadwalan dan Modul Penilaian siswa, sistem informasi dani komunikasi juga
memberikan fasilitas untuk bagian administrasi keuangan sekolah dalam hal pembayaran SPP siswa.
Bagian administrasi dapat langsung mengecek siapa siswa yang mempunyai tunggakan SPP dan untuk
detail histori pembayaran SPP dari masing-masing siswa dapat dicetak seperti mencetak buku tabungan
di bank sehingga mempermudah pekerjaan pihak administrasi keuangan. Administrasi keuangan dapat
langsung melakukan pengaturan data pembayaran masing-masing siswa sesuai dengan kebutuhan dan
dapat diubah sewaktu-waktu apabila ada kenaikan pembayaran SPP. Apabila siswa tersebut akan
melakukan pembayaran, petugas dapat langsung memasukkan data. Hal sama juga dapat dilakukan
untuk Data pembayaran Sumbangan Sukarela dan Tabungan Karyawisata.
Conclusion

Dengan adanya teknologi informasi seluruh aktivitas belajar semakin dimudahkan dari segi materi
pendidikan, penilaian dan aktivitas belajar – mengajar didalam kelas maupun diluar kelas. Teknologi
informasi memberikan waktu yang tak terbatas untuk memiliki pengetahuan yang lebih (literature
bacaan siswa atau mahasiswa) sehingga persaingan pendidikan yang berstandar internasional pun dapat
di cover, yang berakibat baik bagi mutu pendidikan di indonesia dimana adanya kesetaraan mutu dan
output sumber daya terdidik antara dalam negeri dan luar negeri. Teknologi informasi memberikan
kemudahan akses ilmu ( bahan bacaan) bagi mahasiswa dengan biaya lebih murah dibandingkan dengan
membeli buku dan kemudahan dalam menyelesaikan pekerjaan bagi tenaga pengajar dan staff
administrasi sekolah dalam merekap nilai dan melayani administrasi peserta didik.
