LETTER TO THE EDITOR CARTOONIST VIEW

Voice of the people
Where are the tests?
On March 2 the Trump adminis-
tration promised Americans that “by
the end of the week health officials
will be able to perform one million
coronavirus tests.” That is, by March
5th.
That was 14 days ago. As of March
18th, somewhat under 40,000 tests
have been performed and 8,000 cases
had been confirmed. I have heard
several experts say that there are
likely 10 (or more) times as many
cases as have been confirmed - that’s
a minimum of 80,000.
Since March 2, the “million” tests
that would be available has increased
to “millions.”
It’s now two weeks later. I have
one question for the President and
his team: Where are those millions
of tests?
Potentially thousands of lives are
at risk now that might not have been.
