Basic Qualifications

Education/Training: A B.S. or B.A. or equivalent normally required; Mortgage Lending,


HMDA and Quality control training or practical experience.

Skill(s): Proficient reading, writing, grammar, mathematics and analytical skills; proficient
interpersonal relations and communicative abilities; demonstrated supervisory skills; a thorough
knowledge of all aspects of loan operations activities and tasks, including the legal and regulatory
aspects of lending that impact operations; a comprehensive knowledge of bank lending policies
and procedures; proficient PC and loan software skills; visual and auditory skills.

Experience: A minimum of seven to ten (7-10) years' experience in mortgage and commercial
lending or related positions normally required. Consumer or SBA experience preferred.

General Responsibilities

Responsible for directly supervising the group of Quality Control Analysts Group in order to
establish advanced quality controls and to implement continuous improvement standards and
procedures for State Bank. Work as liaison between the Risk Management Group to understand
changes in regulatory requirements in our Mortgage, Consumer and Commercial Business Lines,
coordinate the implementation with Operations Leaders and establish operational metrics to
proactively identify defects in our production. Collaborate with the CTIO and other Directors in
the Operations organization in establishing specific goals for the department; determining work
procedures and driving the required quality standards. Ensure department compliance with all
operating policies and procedures; directly supervising assigned personnel; communicating with
appropriate personnel; providing periodic reports.

Essential Duties

1. Manages the Quality Control Group to provide the next services to the Operations
Group:

a. Mortgage Disclosures
b. Mortgage Pre and Post Closing reviews
c. HMDA implementation, coordination, review and transition to Risk
Management for submission.
d. Third Party & Investor reviews
e. Vendor management for key service providers utilized by the QC group
f. Proactive defect identification and management.
g. Ensure that all activities of the department are conducted in accordance with
established bank lending policy, procedures, quality and service level
agreements (SLAs).
h. Monitors the efficiency and accuracy of all loan processing and servicing tasks
i. Works closely with department and division management, along with customer
service personnel, to integrate activities, provide quality customer service, and
enhance internal operations.
j. Assists with regulatory compliance efforts; monitors department adherence to
regulations.
k. May meet with internal bank personnel and lending customers to resolve
problems, provide information, etc.

2. Collaborates with the CTIO in establishing specific goals for the department;
implements strategies to achieve these goals.

3. Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow.

4. Directly supervises assigned personnel as follows:

a. Assists in the selection of new personnel as appropriate.


b. Makes provisions for the proper orientation and training of new personnel.
c. Reviews employee performance throughout the probationary period and on a
regularly scheduled basis thereafter.
d. Organizes, schedules, and distributes work among assigned personnel.
e. Keeps personnel and internal customers informed of pertinent policies and
procedures affecting the department and/or their jobs; creates an atmosphere in
which upward communication from employees is encouraged.
f. Administers personnel policies and procedures as established by bank policy.

5. Communicates with the CTIO and other Directors in the department, other
supervisors, and appropriate staff personnel in order to integrate activities.

6. Provides timely reporting to the CTIO and other appropriate groups or individuals.

7. Abides by the current laws and organizational policies and procedures designed
and implemented to promote an environment which is free of sexual harassment
and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the work place.

8. Cooperates with, participates in, and supports the adherence to all internal policies,
procedures, and practices in support of risk management, overall safety and
soundness, and the bank’s compliance with all regulatory requirements, e.g.
Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Equal Credit
Opportunity Act, etc. and insures that the department and all personnel adhere to
the same.

but which may be altered or re-designed depending upon individual circumstances.
