Process 2 Reflection

1. What steps have you taken toward completing the written component of your project?
a. I have continued to gather information regarding my project and continued to
make more details regarding my outline. I have conducted some interviews and
am waiting to hear back from external experts.
2. What progress have you made toward completing your draft?
a. Most research is complete along with talking to some experts and their thoughts
on how I should approach my topics and their thoughts about my conclusions. I
still need to hear back from other experts and also make my draft into a more
formal paper.
3. What is left to be done to complete the draft?
a. I still need to write my draft but most of the ideas and flushed out and writing
should not take too long.
4. What are the most important ideas you have discovered through your working answers to
your central question? What have you discovered that others must understand in order to
really understand the most important idea/s in your project? What do you need others to
understand in order to really understand the significance of your project?
a. I think the most important thing I have discovered is that even though some
statistics may seem outdated and useless they still have a place. I think what
others must understand to get the most important ideas in my project is the
various uses for statistics and what each one represents. I think what others need
to understand is why baseball statistics are so fundamental to the sports and what
their individual use cases are.
5. What experience could you create so that someone could discover the central idea/s
above through having or interacting with that experience? Think of as many ways as
possible. These interactive experiences are possible artifact ideas!
a. Some ideas I have are having people compare two players based on various
statistics to decide which is one better and then tell them which one is the
consensus better player. Another one could be to create new statistics or have
them be able to create new statistics based on other information. I don’t have any
other ideas right now but I’ll add them if I get them.
6. What have you read or consulted to prepare for your artifact? What examples of
interactive artifacts have you explored?
a. My first idea came from the paper I read from Jim Albert and his comparison of
players in his paper. While it was not an artifact, I think it could be transformed
into a good idea for an artifact. Looking at the example of the artifact provided I
think this could be a good idea for an artifact.
7. Who do you need to consult with to think about your artifact?
a. I would probably need to consult with Mr. Curtis about his thoughts about what
statistics to use for comparison or Ms. Power when trying to create statistics. I
could also consult outside experts again.
8. What do you need to do to plan for and carry out the creation of the above artifact ideas?
a. I think I just have to gather data and choose which player I want to be compared
and be able to have all of that easily presented.
9. What are your next questions?
a. I don’t have more questions as I feel like my questions have been well thought out
and I feel like I did a good job answering those questions to the best of my ability.
10. What more do you need?
a. All I really need for this project is more time as due to Coronavirus I have trouble
being able to schedule time with experts to talk with them.
