1. Know the definition of Biodiversity and Ecosystem.

Biodiversity is the variability among living organisms from all sources, including
terrestrial, marine, and other aquatic ecosystems and the ecological complexes of which they are
part; this includes diversity within species, between species, and of ecosystems. It encompasses
all kinds of life forms, from single-celled organisms to the largest multi-celled organisms.
Biodiversity is in the structural and functional perspective and not as an individual species.
How would you show the relationship between biodiversity and ecosystem?
The relationship between biodiversity and ecosystem services is a high level
of biodiversity can increase the effectiveness of the ecosystem services of carbon capture,
water treatment, soil fertility, natural pest control and crop fertilization. It is a must also that we
study through the relationship of the biotic and abiotic, because it is an Interdisciplinary
approach in ecosystem. Because if we don’t have the effectiveness of biodiversity and the
sustainability of the ecosystem we won’t have a better survival rate against any natural disaster.
So that’s why we, humans must preserve and conserve the biodiversity of all creatures.

2. It is said that changes in in biodiversity have an erratic effect not only on wildlife and marine
but also on human beings. If you agree explain your answer fully.
I agree because Biodiversity underpins the health of the world and has a direct impact on
all our lives. Biodiversity encounters changes that may impact human health on such different
levels. The food chain might be damaged, and from that we clearly infer that ecosystem in not
well taken care of.
3. There are 5 major threats to biodiversity. In your own idea explain the threats and give
examples to support your answers.
Habitat loss and destruction is a process by which natural habitat is damaged or destroyed
to such an extent that it no longer can support the species and ecological communities. It results
of extinction of species and as a result, the loss of biodiversity. Examples are harvesting fossil
fuels, deforestation, dredging rivers.
Alteration in ecosystem composition is whenever an action changes the species
composition of an area. A wetland that changes from eight percent to 20% cattails serves as an
example of a change in ecosystem composition and structure.
Over-exploitation is harvesting species from the wild at rates faster than natural
populations can recover. Overfishing and overhunting are both types of over-exploitation.
Pollution is contamination that results in or can result in adverse biological effects to
resident communities. All pollutants are contaminants, but not all contaminants are pollutants.
Example is a cup of water contains few drops of poison or chemicals. we might say the water is
not pure.
Global Climate Change is the long-term rise in the average temperature of the Earth's
climate system. Global warming and climate change are often used interchangeably.
