Introduction
For me ‘design’ has always been a process rath-
er than a result. During my post graduation at

14
Pearl Academy, my creative skills have grown
immensly and each project has given me an

12
opportunity to explore new ideas, respond to
new challenges, and build design skills and
knowledge. I truly believe that design is very

20
powerful and can create experiences that ex-
cel the functionality, productivity, livability and
aesthetics of a space.

The work in my portfolio document is a result

of hours of brainstorming, thoughful planning,

04 34
and creative thinking. I am incredibly self-moti-

28
vated, organised, versatile and detail-oriented

32
and take great pride in my work. I am seek-
ing an experience where I can work alongside
great designers in a position that challenges
me to produce high quality work and matches
my interest in further enhacing my skills.
HOSPITALITY PROJECT/SEMESTER3

Nirvana : A multisensory Experience

The Brief
The brief was to design a boutique hotel with a contemporary site. The location was Goa, India

The Concept
The concept is to is to weave a hospitality space which gives a multisensory experience that energises our senses to
be in tune with the healing power of nature. In a very digitized world, finding visceral ways to become mindful and
engage the senses feels especially important for the human experience. The space will result in overall well-being
and help to rejuvenate, relax and also create an environment which is interactive and inextricably ties our emotions
and soul with our senses. Seeking reconnection with nature and thus taking inspiration from the biophilic patterns, the
boutique hotel will be integrated with non-visual and visual connection with nature, presence of water features, dynamic
and diffused light, biomorphic forms, patterns that persist in nature, natural and local materials, organic and curvy shapes
and elements with spatial hierarchy similar to those encountered in nature.

The Reception and Welcome Area

On entering the property the guest will experience a very casual environment. The sound of
water coming and smell of jasmine will be felt. The waiting area will make you relax with a
lounge seating and a juice bar. It has a small library area on the left hand side for you to sit and
read your favourite book. Eco-friendly materials have been used all over the space and large
windows help you to interact with the nature outside and welcomes a lot of natural light.
Suite Room
The suite room will make you
feel as if you’re entering a forest.
The prints, the materials and the
bespoke elements will give you
an enchanted experience. With
woody insence sticks, water fea-
ture and tree instalation, it will all
make sense.

The first floor is dedicated only to private rooms for

guests. This will cause minimum disturbance and
noise and give them a peaceful experience.

Best of both
the worlds
The Brief
The brief was to design a restaurant space with a ground and mezzanine floor using a
design concept.

The Concept
The space will offer a dining along with a shopping experience, bringing the best of both the
worlds together. The restaurant will come up with entrancing revolution of retail which allows
you to take home the table accessories and cutlery in sight from a retail store next to it. This
concept provides a platform to upcoming designers to showcase and sell their work. The col-
lection will be displayed in the restaurant in the form of installations and wall art.
The overall space will give a touch of luxurious dining and eccentric décor. Botanicals, patterns,
jewel tones, artistic accessories, metallics and mirrors will be used to give a rich feel. The mood
created at my restaurant is ecstatic and comfortable. The overall color part of the space is inspired
jewels-sapphire blue, emerald green, ruby pink and grey as the neutral shade. An archway will lead you
to the retail store which will allow you to buy the exclusive collection of table accessories, crockery and
cutlery displayed through installations and wall art at the restaurant.

The Fusio-Dine&Shop is derived from the word ‘Fusion’ which
means blending of two or more things The name reflects the
concept of my restaurant where a customer will experience
the worlds
the fusion of dining and shopping experience and the
space will be a blend of patterns, colors and textures.
Great emphasis have been put on detailing the ta-
ble setting of The Fusio restaurant. Metallic cut-
lery and napkin ring, printed dishware, solid
placemat, contrasting napkin and wine glass
to complement it all. The candles give a
warm feeling and the succulent as the
centrepiece gives a sense of nature
around. The miniature shopping
trolley has been used as the
bill tray and has a discount
card in it which can be
used at our retail store
next to the restaurant.

CRAFT PRODUCT /SEMESTER2

Crochet De'light

The Brief
The brief was to design an interior product using an Indian craft or technique.

Crochet Craft
Lace craft or crochet comes from croc, or croche, the Middle French word for hook is a modern introduc-
tion into India and was developed during the 16th century and was known as crochet lace in France and
chain lace in England. It is a process of creating fabric by interlocking loops of yarn, thread, or strands of oth-
er materials using a crochet hook. Macrae couple from Scotland introduced this craft to women in Narsapur,
West Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh, India in the 20th century where it has proliferated and it has now
grown into an export oriented industry providing direct employment for more than 70,000 women. Artisans are
helped by traders, Government and development organizations that have helped them form into cooperatives and
Self Help Groups.
The Concept
The concept revolves around
the fact that nobody can dim
the light that shines from with-
in and how one can pass all the
obstacles in their life with self-con-
fidence. The intertwined network
of threads represent the hindranc-
es and barriers in life and how one
should leap across and clean over
those invisible fences, dream the im-
possible and achieve success.

The Inspiration
The form of the light is be in-
spired by Lotus, the state flow-
er of Andhra Pradesh. The
product has three layers of
petals of varying sizes.The co-
lours for crochet work have
been derived from Indi-
an Roller, the state bird of
Andhra Pradesh. Prus-
sian blue, light blue and The Objective

the pendant light. homemakers who practice crocheting as their hobby. This craft has a lot of pote-
nial in the global market and if explored further through design intervention can
provide employment to thousans of women.

vention can provide employment to thousans of women. The product caters
to SDG GOAL 12: Responsible Consumption and Production and also aims to
achieve SDG GOAL 5: Gender Equality and GOAL 8: Decent Work and Econom-
ic Growth. Crochet De’light bridges the gap between the market and the artisan
through designer craftsmen collaboration, as today the artisan is geographically
apart from their client, to be able to understand their aesthetic and socio-cultural
needs thus increasing the livelihood opportunities for these women artisans.

Roots In Vouge

The Brief
The brief was to design a residence for an event manager who is deeply rooted to her
traditions but still is equally modern in her outlook towards her life and work. Herhus-
band was an entrepreneur and used to work mostly from home. The spatial requirements
were an office space nearby a powder room, a spacious living room, a large master bed-
room with attached washroom and a kitchen with a bar and a store room.

The Concept
In our relentness to modernize and move forward, we as a generation are on the brink of losing
touch with our past. In this process, we tend to forget out roots and often let go of our rich cul-
ture. The concept will weave a space that is a fusion of craft, textile, material and texture, a flavour
of the Indian pallate reinvented and redefined through contemporary design and luxury.

The Inspiration
The concept is inspired by the symbolism and beauty of the lotus flower and peacock which represents
purity and beauty. With a palette of gorgeous colors and a distinct pattern, the colours and forms of
lotus and peacock have been used in all the rooms of the house in a different and interesting way.
Master Bedroom
The basic idea was to give a ro-
mantic and clutter-free feel to the
room where the busy couple can
come and retire after a long day.

A blue lounge chair, four post

bed and Rajasthan themed
paintings gives the master bed-
room an exquisite feel. The
flooring is probably the high-
light of the room. With a gor-
geous grey marble,pink marble
has been inlayed to form a lo-
tus pattern in a random order.
The room also has a reading
corner with a L-shaped win-
dow because the client’s hus-

trasting materials and creat-
ing a perfect balance between
ethinicity and modernity.
SET DESIGN /SEMESTER1

Imperfections
The set design celebrates the
imperfections of an individ-
ual and it’s surroundings and
how one should embrace it.
Concept LIVE PROJECT/SHAM EMPORIUM
Our concept revolves around
the spring season of New Zea-
land. Vibrant and uplifting, spring

tember to November. This season
here is an explosion of nature-birds,

animals and flowers. The grading
shades of ‘lupine’, (a mesmerising
specie of flowers bloomed in this sea-
son) will be taken as our colour pallate.
The inspiration for the major colour is
taken from the PANTONE COLOUR OF
THE YEAR- Living Coral which is now also
cited as a colour of carefree happiness.

Sham Emporium is the best home decor and furnishings store in

Gurgaon for furnishing fabrics & other home décor items. They also
offers free interior decorating services.Visual Merchandising was
done for their store as a group project. All the window displays
and the overall store was decorated around the autumn theme.
